I think it's cool that the Gozani cruiser can carry ties. I just cant figure out what advantage it gives you as far as the game itself goes.
Gozani Cruzer?
It's pretty awesome. You deploy them when the Carrier moves. And the Carrier moves after all the normal ships in the game have activated. And you pick the carried ships 'deployment' manuever when you deploy it.
So basically you get to wait and see where all the other ships are going to be, then set your dial and move your ships. So it's GREAT for alpha-striking key parts of the enemies fleet and dodging arcs. I love using it.
Plus the carrier protects the ships it's carrying.
If you have 4 bombers, they are likely to be shot down before they can fire their missiles. Instead, you can deploy them in the ideal location, in formation, and they can get target locks immediately.
If you want to win in epic, this is one of the best routes.
You have 4 less dials to worry about
You can also save Soontir and a couple of cheap buddies for late game where they can clean up rather than being focus fired down right out the gate like a pidgeon in a shooting gallery.

This is why epic need an escort (or some similar) action.
Load up four bombers with some kind of Range 3 ordnance and Guidance Chimps. After all the non-huge ships have moved, deploy two of them out the front with 4 straights (barrel-rolling the first one out of the way of the second one). Use Coordinate to get the barrel roller his Target Lock, Tarkin to give one Focus, and Ordnance Experts to provide some insurance on top of the Chimps. You have just projected two heavily-modified four-dice attacks (at PS 8 if you brought the Requiem title) across a huge distance, roughly equivalent to Range 5.
Dropping Tempests with Chimps and Cluster Missiles right into a dogfight is fun, too, but much more difficult to avoid running things over.
It's also a great way to protect the Gozanti itself. The moment something gets to where you can't deal with it, deploy fighters for protection.

Nah, I think it's good that Epic skews the balance back in favour of generic pilots. Aces dominate the 100/6 format already, I'd be really sad if they dominated Epic too.
I thought that Ben meant it the other way around?

My friend John just got this ship today for his birthday. Looks awesome. Has some fixes for the lack of energy efficiency with the Raider and CR-90. Looking forward to playing against it with my Transport.
Tie Bomber alpha-strikes are really devastating flung from the Gonzanti. Use the title that allows them to shoot at PS8.

This would be the basis of that list, although you can save points by not using Crackshot and downgrading the Veterans to Scimitars, maybe even ignoring Extra Munitions in that case. You can also add a second pair of Bombers who can continue the assault next turn. If your entire list uses missiles and torpedoes you can consider Ordnance Experts, for just the Bombers they are overkill, though.
Deployment is very strong, since the Bombers come into play after any standard ship has moved. The way you do it is have one Bomber deploy and barrel roll, then have the other move next to it and take a target lock on your intended target. The Gonzanti then takes the "coordinate" action to give the Bomber without TL a free target lock action.
Saving ships for late game also works suprisingly well. Combine that with a ramming ships that has RAC crew, Engine Booster and is kept cheap otherwise. You have the choice of either Soontir Fel + Carnor Jax or Vader + Maarek Stele because of the stupid restrictions the docking clamps have.

A starting point for that kind of list. I love the battering ram Gonzanti, but it is by no means the only one you can do with this kind of setup. You can use pretty much any flavour of Gonzanti you want. For late gamers just use your favourite Interceptor/Advanced aces in your favourite configurations (although just maybe keep an eye on not having them too pricey).

Can the Gozanti carry any TIE? ie just the TIE Fighter, or TIE Advanced/Bomber/Punisher etc?
I am asking for two reasons really:
1. As far as the X-Wing Minis rules go
2. Can you physically attach other TIEs? - I would love to use it as a prop in my AoR RPG game

According to the rules, any TIE fighter (including /fo ...and /sf?), TIE interceptor ,TIE bomber, and the TIE advanced, but not the TIE Adv. Prototype, (which is ridiculous because the Gozanti is seen carrying Inquisitor's TIE on the show! Also, whatever ship you choose, they have to all match, so you can't carry one of each, for example. Also a weird, lame rule, but it's probably meant to prevent you from taking the best ace of each starfighter and dominating in the end game. I still think it's a little silly to make that a rule, again, because we see mixed fighters on Gozanti cruisers in Star Wars: Rebels. Oh well.
EDIT: And yes, you can physically attach TIEs
Nice! I just ordered one from my FLGS and can't wait for it!
I now understand why some of the squads I have seen have only 2 TIE Adv or so on them. Makes sense if they have to be matching ships. I guess you wouldn't have the points for 4 x some of the other ships.
For the AoR RPG - the ISB Agent Nemesis I have created will be chasing the Rebel PCs in one of these. Probably with 2 TIE Punishers and 2 TIE Interceptors. They dont have to match in the RPG
Also - Nice squad Parakitor !
Do note that the TIE punisher won't fit on the docking clamps because the stem on the ship is buried between the weapon pods. You'll need to use a peg to get the punisher far enough away to fit. Not ideal, but it'll look like they just deployed and are about to engage!

Dang it, I keep re-living this game. I want a re-match!
For those that underrate the Gozanti cruiser - it won Parakitor this match. There were so many fighters that we created a parking lot and that Gozanti just fed his bumped TIEs actions AND THEN he dumped low PS interceptors behind my fighters. You want an advantage? Point blank shots!
A note on attaching the various fighters: some of them don't leave enough room for the others, like the TIE Bomber, so you'll have to use a clear peg to stagger some of them so they can fit side by side (in much the same way that a double Pancake list will place one ship on one peg and one ship on two pegs).

Rules wise TIE Punishers can't be docked on the Gozanti anyway. As stated it's TIE fighters, TIE Interceptors, TIE bombers, or TIE Advanced only. TIE Fighters includes /SF and /FO. In other words no Punisher, Phantom, Adv Prototype.
Wish it could take TAP's at least...
( both announced on the same day, so it's exclusion unlikely due to temporal sequencing - so probably no errata in the future )

'Temporal Sequencing' will now be my go-to phrase for 'timing'.
It is Big in Epic. In Standard there isn't enough firepower to kill key ships early in the game. Soontir which for a while dominated Standard doesn't last long in Epic because there are just so many firing arcs and so many red dice on the other side of the table. So the Gozanti allows you to keep your fragile pilots in the epic ship and launching them after some of the enemy fleet has been cleared off.
Cleared off
the windshield
you mean.
