Basic Sato for Hothgary Regionals

By Drasnighta, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Hothgary Regionals are in just over a week.

So, here goes the thought Phase:

83 - AFMK-IIB (72)

- Ordnance Experts (4)
- Electronic Countermeasures (7)

83 - AFMK-IIB (72)

- Ordnance Experts (4)
- Electronic Countermeasures (7)

79 - Modified Pelta Command Frigate (60)

- Toryn Farr (7)

- Flight Commander (3)
- Rapid Launch Bays (6)
- Phoenix Home (3)

58 - GR75 Combat Retrofits (24)

- Commander Sato (32)

- Bright Hope (2)

19 - Ten Numb

14 - B-Wing

14 - B-Wing

15 - VCX-100

14 - Lieutenant Blount

7 - Z95 Headhunter

7 - Z95 Headhunter

7 - Z95 Headhunter

I am Statistically Abysmal, and as long as I'm savvy and Aggressive with my Fighter Usage, I should be able to be getting 3 ConFire Blacks out of the AFMK-IIs, which are, of course, Ordnance Expert'd up...

Unsure on Objectives....

Part of me is thinking "Close Range Intel Sweep", "Planetary Ion Cannon" and "Superior Positions"

But any general thoughts or comments?

It's probably not actually a good idea but the thought of Opening Salvo in this list tickles me. But since it's for Regionals I would just put Sato on an Assault Frigate and go with Most Wanted.

Bwing fleets like to hold a patch of space, so;

Station Assault.

Planetary ion canon or contested outpost. Much needed damage boost, but easily avoided, or a come at me bro taunt.

Superior Positions or sensor net. With the former they will turtle in a corner. With the latter you can farm a token.

I am surprised by the lack of fighter coord teams. I also dont understand Leutenant blount. Are your z95s not suicide squads? Makes me wonder at the lack of hwks too. Toryn counter 2 is ghastly.

Opening Salvo tickles me too, but I can never really tell what kind of fleet to use it in. It seems like it might be good in a MSU so you get as many extra dice as you can, but little ships are delicate, and giving your opponent two extra dice could give them the a greater chance of one-shotting your little ships. I am working on a Sato list with Salvation, Scout Frigate Admonition, and Paragon. It's lower on activations, but I think it can make really good use of Opening Salvo.

I have several, separate concerns which can be addressed independently if you desire.

1. The AF will struggle bringing Acc to bear, since you will be swapping 2 reds for 2 blacks. Gunna be hard killing anything with an Evade. Trust me, I've already missed crits and killing blows when an Evade negates my hit/crit.

2. Drop PH and FC. Put Leia on the GR-75 or an AF if you are worried about dial manipulation. I assume the GR-75 will be pushing Squad commands since you have a VCX, so you don't need to worry about not having a squad command coming. With the 3 free points, swap a B-Wing with Dagger since it will get a boost from Blount's swarm reroll ability.

3. I'm surprised you don't have AFFM if you are running the Pelta. Aren't you worried about having slower squads not being sticky? With no Intel, you will have trouble getting in position. Z-95s will get eaten alive, and B-Wings are just too slow. But if your opponent comes to you, your in good shape.

4. What is Toryn Farr doing? Won't help the AF with black dice, and half of your squad use red dice. Drop her for BCC or another Z-95.

5. With slow squads, you want your opponent to come to you. Gink is right. You should run Station Assault and Contested Outpost. Very good for your B-Wings to get in the action, will trigger Sato, and net you some points. For blue, I'd say Solar Corona because it is defensive, or Sensor Net so you can score 30 points reliably each round with the VCX moving tokens.

You appear not to have noticed the rapid launch bays.

To respond:

1) makes no difference to me... I was honestly considering just the one red to change, with a BlackConfire... I mean, I'm already rolling ALL ACCS, ALL BLANKS, OR A MIX OF ACCS AND BLANKS... SO any amount of Damage, even with the enemy using a Brace, is an enemy still taking Damage and Using their Brace... BETTER THAN USUAL FOR ME :D

2) Dial Manipulation? hell no. Not worried about that at all... I'm using Phoenix Home as a B-Wing Vomiter. FC allows me to Shoot, move, and then Dump them to attack. The VCX is there to enable some potential objective movement shenanigans, not so much for its Relay. Unless for itself.

3) B-Wings are moving at Pelta Speed until they're ready. This is primarily a Player 2 list, after all - slow and defensive is okay... Also, the Zs are there because getting 1-2 X-Wings instead of 4 Squadrons seemed a little counter-productive for board coverage. Have the enemy advance, bring them into the wall - engage and pepper, while the AFs are Scooting at Range.

4) Giving the B-Wings a Blue Reroll when they Dump-out and Vomit Death over whoever I want.

5) I did ask for ideas on the Mission Objective, after all :D

Oops, I mistook Flight Commander for the Wing Commander so that makes a lot more sense.

I was wondering why this list looked like a hodge-podge of upgrades just put on a ship.

So you can disregard 2, 3, and 4.

Still think the AF will not be as good as you hope. 4 dice isn't all to great without die fixing. Sensor Beacons is great with Sato.

RLB can be iffy if the Pelta gets blown up, but that's an obvious flaw in the strategy.

This list should work nicely if you can double arc the AF and paint your target.

That last line is bascially the hope... I suck at rolling dice. Flat out. Suck.

But I'm usually pretty good at maneuver, and getting the AFs into position, I trained well with paragon... So I'm hoping all the pieces come together... This is a list that should reward my strengths (Maneuver), and attempt to mitigate my weaknesses somewhat (by providing some rerolls)

Speaking of which, where is Paragon?

Cut for the purposes of having two Equal AFMK-IIs with Equal Threats. To split attention, ratehr than "here's the one to kill first" kind of concept.

ALso. I had to remind myself like, 30 times, this is a 400pt list, not a 500 dream... >.>

... As it turns out, the Marshal just got back to us, and he's on TEAM PURPLE.... So this List is Scrapped until I can build a new one :D

TEAM PURPLE....

So what is Team Purple?
