Chicago-land X-Wing Regional Championship

We are very honored to host the X-Wing Regional Championship at Pastimes once again this year. Last years Regional was amazing with 119 players in attendance for the main event and 47 players for our redemption event on day 2. This year we will be running the same format as last year. Day one will consist of all the Swiss rounds for the Regional Championship. Day 2 will consist of the single elimination rounds for the top 16 players as well as a Redemption tournament.

The Regional championship will be run by all rules set forth by Fantasy Flight games. In addition to the the main event we will be hosting a ship Painting / Modification contest to be voted on by any a nd all participants. As an additional value to those traveling to our Regionals for a two day event we will be having a Redemption tournament on Sunday. The redemption tournament will be open to all players but if you played in the main event on Saturday your entry is free!

Due to the high demand for this tournament seating will be limited to 120 players and all registration must be completed online to guarantee yourself a seat. We are in the process of seeing if more space can be opened up to increase the number of players who can attend. In the event that we can add more player slots for the tournament it will be announced.

Just like last year we all entry fees will go towards prizes support and we have custom Regional playmats for the top 32 players. In addition will we have an Alternate Art pilot card custom made for the event for every single player in attendance. All these prizes and more HUGE PRIZES AND BONUSES to be announced are in addition to all the prizes provided by Fantasy Flight Games.

We are pleased to announce that the one-and-only Paul LaRue will be joining us for our X-Wing Regional Weekend, from Feb 4-5!

Paul is designing an EXCLUSIVE, custom card for our Regional event. This card will be given to ALL participants in our main event!

Paul will have a selection of his prints and cards available for purchase. He has also agreed to sign autographs at any time throughout the weekend!

I couldn't be more excited and proud to share our first of multiple participation prizes that will be available at our Regionals Feb 4-5th.

The concept for this piece was to capture the exciting scene from Rogue One as the Gold Squadron Y-Wings fired Ion Torpedoes completely disabling the Star Destroyer.

****X-Wing Regionals UPDATE 1/10/17***
I want to thank everyone for their overwhelming interest and support for this year’s X-Wing Regional Championship being held at Pastimes Feb 4-5th weekend. Due to this excitement we have already booked the 120 available registration slots for this tournament. But life somehow always seems to interfere with even the best laid plans and we usually have a handful of no shows and or last minute cancellations.

Therefore we have created a sta ndby registration for anyone who would still like to participate in the event of any no shows or cancellations. Anyone who registers online for standby will have first priority of Tournament entry in the event of any no shows or cancellations. I will check the cancellations on Friday Feb. 3rd to inform any one the standby registration that they have made it in to the main event.

X-Wing Regionals 2017 Standby / Overflow Registration

We have already announced that Wave 10 will be legal for our Regional Championship and all of our side events. It doesn't look like there will be an FAQ out to cover the new cards but I wanted to discuss how we will be ruling on some of their interactions. The first one I want to talk about is the one that will probably come up most. Kylo-Ren Crew + Darth Vader Crew. When you using these cards together you CAN NOT trigger the, “I'll show you the dark side” condition with Darth Vader crew. The reason is Vader's ability is triggered after the attack and I'll show you the dark sides trigger specifies during the attack. Until FFG releases some clarity on the issue this is how we will rule for all of our events. If you have any other ruling concerns you would like address please comment below thank you so much!

I couldn't be happier for the level of excitement surrounding this years Chicago Regional Championships! With that being said there are so many more people who would love to play in this event but we simply can't acommodate everyone. With that being said I am going to ask that you do your fellow X-Wing players a solid?
