So i was out and about this past evening, and during my wandering i walked into Barnes and Noble. Now as any good Xwing player would do i headed straight to the game section where they keep a small stock of Xwing, Imperial Assault, and Armada stuff. And lo and behold in one of the corners was...a TIE Striker! And even better just below it was a U-Wing! I couldn't believe it. I have no idea how they could have been there due to everywhere basically being out of stock since the movie came out. I snatched them up quick and rushed home with my surprise find. As excited as I am about finding them, I am more curious as to how they were there when everywhere else has long sense sold out. Any ideas?
An Unexpected Find at Barnes and Noble
Somebody got them for Christmas then returned them?
My girlfriend ordered me a U-Wing for Christmas from them, so I assume they had a bunch available in the warehouse, or it was a return. One or the other. But she said she had no issue getting one from B&N.
I had forgotten they even carried x-wing. Needless to say I just spent some of my Christmas money. 2 strikers coming my way.
They've got tonnes of both (well 3 U's and 5 Strikers) at the B&N I'm at right now. Loaded.
A lot of x-wingers don't realize that Barnes & Noble carries x-wing stuff, so sometimes they don't sell out as fast as the dedicated game stores. When I first got into X-Wing it was right after wave 2 came out and wave 1 was impossible to find anywhere... except at B&N. I found a bunch of TIE-Advances, X-Wings, etc. at my local B&N and bought them all, then checked all the other B&Ns within easy driving distance and bought out everything they had there, then sold all my extras on eBay and used the proceeds to fund my purchases. By the end of it I had purchased a core set and all of wave 1 and 2 for about $50.
It was awesome. ![]()

I've known for a long time they carry stuff, and I usually go to them when all other avenues have failed me (because I like to give my money to FLGSs first). No such luck this time, though.
I walked through on Monday and gandered, only saw Arcs and S/Fs as their newest product. Was hoping for a U-wing since I have a tourney on Sunday and would like Expertise. Will take another look this weekend, I guess.

And that's why Wave 1 had supply problems.
Heck, I got into X-wing because I saw the game while wandering through a Barnes & Noble one day. Picked up a number of ships from them (but haven't been back recently).
I didn't know it was sold out. I got my U-wing and Tie Striker a week after it came out. My local store had them. Then again, we have had a number of game stores opening lately.

Thank you for this sir. I forgot all about them. Just found some and will be getting me some more strikers and U's in just a bit.

B&N still seems to have a good supply of X-Wing stuff, both in store and more so on line (just got 2 Strikers and a U-Wing from them on line), but they don't seem to be carrying Amarda anymore. Have not seen anything from the last two waves in either the store or on line.
FYI if you are looking for the newest stuff for X-Wing on line at B&N get the ISBN number for it and put that in the search field on their website, I seem to have better luck finding it that way.

Pssh nope. Wave 1 had problems before I ever made my first purchase. If not then there wouldn't have been a demand for wave 1 ships on eBay in the first place. I just helped transfer the supply to where the demand was. That's capitalism, baby. ![]()

I need to do a road trip again to your shop; they're isn't any new ships up here.....none.
Checked online and the store I walked through on Monday now says the U-Wing is in stock. Reserved it online and should be getting it tomorrow!
FYI: 15% off a single item coupon expires tomorrow

I've been scouring my local B&Ns for the reasons given in this thread.
After reading the preview article and watching Rogue One, I really wanted a U-wing.
For anybody in Dallas, Texas Toy Soldier had 6 of them on the shelf when I left at 18:20CDT (they closed at 19:00, so presumably they'll be there tomorrow when they open).
If you get one, just don't go re-sell it on ebay. ![]()
Some years ago a dude at the local store was visiting relatives in a small town on the otherside of the country when he, for different reasons stumbled into a small toystore, not related to gaming other then perhaps monopoly.
Imagine his surprise when he spotted 3 copies of the newly released and immediately sold out revamped version of Space Hulk sitting in the shelf for less then the recommended price o_O

Mine was stocked

Nice find!!! I have seen some wave 9 stuff at Barnes and Noble, but my best guess is someone returned something from online.
Or, in a more fun scenario, " the force of others was with you"
However, most Barnes and Noble are kinda negligent towards the newer stuff, but one can't expect them to have everything.
Edited by Yoda Manmy B&N dumped all the xwing stuff they carried in a big sale to clear it out and of course i missed the sale but it was from what the guy told me like half off or more on what they had.... and now they don't carry it any more
which stinks cause they like 5 minutes from my house
Just got a Tie Striker from Barnes and Noble. They are there and on Amazon.
"It's true, all of it."
Well, I've seen it on Amazon for the past couple of days, don't know about all you folks around the world but the Strikers are certainly here in Texas on Amazon.
