CC Unique Non-Person Squadrons Identification

By strikenowhere, in Star Wars: Armada

Hey guys,

Not sure if I am missing something, but is there a way to easily distinguish between a generic squadron and the non-character unique squadron from CC on the actual play area? Other than potentially having an extra (small) icon indicating additional abilities, the cardboard disc appears identical and is not easily distinguishable.

Thanks for your input.

You could use a number/symbol marker to differentiate them. Because yeah, that are going to be very difficult to tell apart if one is running them with generics.

The icons are the only difference. I might put one of the colored stickers from Imperial Assault to make them stand out more. Of course, these squadrons can become Veteran so will be marked (at least for a part of the game) with a Veteran Token.

well you can paint the stands and/or minis, :) you can use a bright sharpie color or paint on the edge of the Stand Disks (I'm going with this idea) ;)

you can also make a colored coded marker to put in the stand up slot on the stand.

I'm gonna try and photoshop something and print it on a sticker to overlay the cardboard provided.

I use these...

I always use the small shield with the winged symbol (the ones that are to determine each players ships in team battles) to help designate my character and unique squadrons from a distance, as my squadrons are not painted. Works great.

So where did you get those?

True, it often is a choice between painting or playing. Paint or Die so to speak.

Pfft, right now it's more like paint, die, or deal with a 2-year old and a 6-week old. Which is unfortunate, as I used to paint whole armies. Awesome capitol ships will suffice for now.

Well, I've only got a 3 year old, so I'll paint for ye :D

I "Edge" my squadron discs, red for Rebel, black for empire, using markers. Edging is coloring the perimeter of a token/chit with marker.
