[Needed] Information about "Sababtia": World - Saint -Crusade

By Gregorius21778, in Dark Heresy

Greetings brethern,

I caught fragments in the fluff that there is / was / will be a Saint called "St. Sabbatia" (or simliar) or even some worlds and a crusade around it.

Does anyone has any knowledge about this? Especially the saint (if I am not mistaken about he/she).

I would like to incorporate it in a game of mine where the group reached a village on Dusk where settlers might have a background connection to that...and by recognizing this connection (CL: Imperial Creed / Imperium) get boni for interaction.

Thank you!

Saint Sabbat, and the Sabbat Worlds Crusade, are the setting for Dan Abnett's "Gaunt's Ghosts" series of novels (and the novel 'Double Eagle', also by the same author, though focussing on a different part of the crusade and a different set of characters).

An overview of the background for Saint Sabbat can be found here, while some information on the Sabbat Worlds and the Crusade that fought to reclaim the region in M41 can be found here.

As far as I can tell, Saint Sabbat is an example of a local saint, one whose deeds and renown are limited to a sector or a collection of sectors in one part of the Imperium. There are billions of saints like this, with every part of the Imperium having its own collection of them significant to the worlds and populations there (the Calixis Sector has, amongst others, Saint Drusus, who was a hero during the Angevin Crusade that founded the sector). Only a relatively small number of saints would be known across the entire Imperium, normally people whose deeds have helped shape the Imperium as a whole (Sebastian Thor, the Ecclesiarch who reformed the Ministorum and saved the Imperium from the Age of Apostasy, is an example of a saint renowned across the whole Imperium).

At least, that's my opinion on the matter.

A further selection of known Saints (though by no means complete) can be found here.

You should read the Founding and definitley the Saint omnibus. The Saint gives great detail about Saint Sabbat . Gaunt's Ghosts are great reads, but if you need information on the system or the saint that's where to start, since neither existed in the 40k universe until Dan Abnett came along.
