It has bean many years since I've played WFRPG, but I do play DH (and RT if you count one session), do they maintain the lengthy and at times difficult (but almost always fun) Character Gen and Progression system or have they gone over to something more like DH & RT?
Tell me about the new Edition!

Neither. It's a totally different character gen system than either WFRP 1/2 or DH/RT. You pick a race. Then you pick a career (either just choose one, or you can do it randomly). After that it's points buy - you have a certain number of points to spend on attributes, skills, talents and stuff like resources.
See this designer diary for a step by step guide to creating a character.

Doesn't look like the game for me, over reliance on Cards as a core featuere and not an optional tool and other things will have me trying to pick up previous editions or waiting for the next one, but to each their own, I hope that those that enjoy it keep enjoying it.
Character generation is a snap and goes very quickly. Give this game a try if you can. The dice event resolution system is very innovative and you have many options for making the type of charatcer that YOU want to play. The cards add alot to the game. They are just rules in a card format - very handy. You don't draw cards during game play - they act as references and status place keepers.
I'll second the opinion that the cards are actually pretty useful. They allow players to have the relevant skills rules at their fingertips without carting around/flipping through a player's manualand they're more aesthetically pleasing than most player's manuals, too.
They seem to be way more of an asset during gameplay than a distraction, at least in the bit I've played, and they make people new to RPGs feel MUCH more secure about knowing what they can do, which has allowed me to get some new blood interested in this game.
Even if you dislike 4E, the big thing this game and 4E have in common is the cards holding information that in previous verisons of the games you would have to look up. For instance in 3.5 DnD you had a character sheet where you wrote the name of the feat but there wasn't enough room to write the whole text of the feat or special ability.
RPGs designers have learned that cards can provide information that just a couple of years ago would have to be referenced by a book every game.
DB: This is the same old world, but a COMPLETELY differen't system. It's played with cards and dice. Characters are 4 dimensional (wounds, impairments, stance, action recharges).
The cards hold all the rules (not a big deal, I just put all mine in album sheets), just like D&D 4e, except you don't have to redesign your card everytime you "level."
I enjoy it, but you WILL NEED EXTRA DICE. ![]()
