CorSec Academy: Wave Analysis - Jabba's Palace

By playnwin, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

It somewhat bothers me that instead of evade people talk about surge cancel or countersurge. (And about evade when they mean dodge.)

I don't think you mean viscous, but vicious.... :D

You didn't talk much out about Mobile with Jet Troopers (makes their mp much better on some maps or when overrunning hostiles) and the Creature trait for Dewback Rider and Captain Terro, which could be relevant when having other creatures in the list. And Creature is sometimes relevant in the campaign too for some agenda cards.

Otherwise a very nice piece with a lot of thoughts aligning with mine - although mine are from the campaign perspective.

Having the synonyms "evade" and "dodge" representing two distinct defense die results was found, by us at least, to be clunky and more confusing than helpful very early on.

Playnwin and I have been referring to them as "X-Men" and "Countersurge" since Twin Shadows. Old habits die hard.

played a few games with new wave and my jabba is phenomenal, everything he does is great, also has alot of hp to use black market on easily, been rather impressed with vinto actually for his pts

Loved the article, but disagreed about Jabba. He's taking the game in a new direction, and it's nice to see that his card can both gain and allow you spend VP. The joys of gameplay all come from being able to explore different strategies and do different things. Jabba is no different, and is a solid piece that Scum needed, as they were constantly borrowing Gideon and 3PO for support/focus.

Great overview of the new stuff. Thanks for the write up.

On Jabba: tournaments matches are often (usually?) played to time rather than reaching 40 points, so the fast-forward effect you mention isn't quite as pronounced. It's still a factor but it's certainly accounted for as part of his deployment cost. Playing with/against him changes the game but I think that's a good quality as long as he's otherwise balanced. We'll see about that balance over time...

Agreed with Tvayumat that evade and dodge are confusing.
