No such Kill as Overkill? (Rey advice)

Looking at a possible Rey/Cassian build but not sure about the second crew slot on the Falcon.

I was going for the Expertise/Finn combo but i see people swearing that Gunner is needed too and others saying that it really isnt etc so not sure.

Cassian is built as what i like to call a Flytrap. He uses Intel agent and Stay on Target to get himself in position to be bumped by an ace. If im lucky and can get the Ion Projector to work then the next turn, thanks to Hera i can reveal 0 and hold it there (as it cant clear my base) and then rolls on Ion again. Originally the build did have Zeb so that it could then unload on a trapped Ace with no actions etc but i needed to get the Intel agent in somewhere. It was originally on the Falcon, Zeb was on the U and it also afforded me some Torpedos for close range blasting. The Gunner removes all of that.

That Rey build is interesting. I'm not sure who is telling you that you need gunner on Rey, (basically) 4/5 dice is going to be enough to force damage through almost all of the time - so yes maybe you will use it occasionally against token stackers but you will play a lot of lists where it is 5 points and a crew slot wasted.

The evade title sort of goes against the received wisdom for Rey. Without that sloop (and Kanan) you are relying on being able to keep enemies in arc with your move + a boost (in which case your action won't be used to take an evade anyway).

How about something like this, swapping Kanan for Gunner might help you get shots in arc more often which will mean Rey and Finn's in arc bonus' proc more often which should more than make up for the loss of gunner. Plus it gives you a couple of extra points to play with for the U-wing or an initiative bid.

Ion projector has two problems, it's a die roll (50/50 palpable)& large base ships aren't going to care too much about ion token. You'll wreck some small base lists but not be well rounded for other lists. I'd take Chewbacca,ezra,recon spec, weapons engineer or C-3PO before Gunner on Rey.

Ion isn't Palpable is it? The wording on the card says it's my Dice roll. I thought Palp only worked on their own dice rolls?

I know it's 50/50 but locking someone in with a 4 dice mini Buzzsaw is worth the chance I think.
