Find Weakness

By ra9, in WFRP Rules Questions

I have two questions concerning the support card Find Weakness. Maybe it's a general question concerning the support cards in general as to when to use them. Do performing the Find Weakness counts as hostile action or may I do it before just before attacking and starting the fight? Or does it require me to see the target fighting? For example can it be used to assault a camp guard sitting by a campfire or ambush a roadwarden on his routine patrol?

There are two types of encounters: Combat and Social . Observing guards or roadwardens in order to find potential weaknesses in their patrol behaviour occurs during story mode. Therefore, if I was the GM I will call for an opposed Observation (Int) vs. Target Int. Depending on target race and the situation I will probably use a cunning point.

The test results can be has follows (only if the players successfully manage to make an ambush):

One success - The observer ignores one challenge die on his first attack

Three successes - As above, and if the observer tells about his observations to allies they add a fortune die to their first attack

One boon - The observer adds a Fortune die to his first attack

One bane - The observer adds a Misfortune die to his first attack

Sigmar's Comet - The observer adds a Fortune die to his first attack

Chaos Star - A trap! The observer and his allies add two challenge dice to their attacks during the first round

The support card Find Weakness can be used during combat, and the results are restricted to the card holder.
