Just got the shadow caster for xmas, and I have a question about this card.

When I use the action to roll a die and on a hit or crit I deal the enemy a face down damage card. Does this bypass shields? or, would I deduct 1 point of shields if I roll the hit or crit?

Black Market Slicer Tools ignores shields.

It is not dealing damage, it is dealing a damage card.

Wow... What an amazing card!

Just remember that the ship you use it on MUST be stressed, and if it hits/crits you MUST remove a stress token. It's good, but it has it's drawbacks

I'll use Asajj with tactitian with title. hehe, not that the title adds stress but, yeah, good synergy

You answer your own question when you write down the effect. The upgrade deals a face-down CARD. Cards and shields don't interact and you can even have ships destroyed despite having multiple shield tokens remaining to absorb damage.

While dealing "damage" may eventually lead to dealing cards the dealing of cards is not the same as dealing damage. Wampa may never "hit" a target and cause damage if it's ability is used yet still deal enough cards to destroy a target.
