Cut my map by accident

By FrogTrigger, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

So I was opening up a figure pack Christmas morning a little to excited and I accidentally cut to low and hit the map. In classic snow flake fashion it is essentially mangled once I open it all up. It is still technically usable, but difficult and I imagine it is just a matter of time before it falls apart.

Anyone had any luck with getting replacement maps from FFG that they lost/ripped?

Duct tape might be your friend here, unfortunately.

Transparent tape maybe, but it might cause discolouring with age...

I've done this way too often.

I've purposefully sliced the spines off all the manuals and slipped them into transparent sleeve booklets - first for extra protection, and second, for better organisation. For example all public knowledge rules are in one place, even the bits that were in the campaign book. In my case, damage like that, I'd just put a bit of tape on, and slide it into a sleeve, and it would look fine.

To print the pvc map would you pick size 36inx 36?

Which map? I've got an extra of a couple of them I might be able to spare

It just so happens to be the Bossk map, if it was a map from one of the generics at least then I would have an excuse to buy a new one :P But two Bossk's doesn't really help me. lol

If the cut is deep, you could use contact cement.

You use it like rubber cement, but it is much stronger and really good for gluing foam.

Open up the cut. Coat both sides of the cut evenly with contact cement. Allow to dry. After the glue has dried, press the two sections together. Job done!

The EXACT same thing happened to me, when I cut open the Bossk-box. Not the map is in two pieces. It would be awesome customer service if FFG would replace these things... but otherwise, clear tape is doing to the trick.

you're talking about just the sheet of paper that comes with the ally pack? I thought you were talking about the actual map tiles. I should have an extra one regardless, let me check.

(Move along, nothing to see hear, move along... now sneaking off into a dark hole)

Clear packaging tape should do the trick.

Yeah, I take full responsibility for cutting mine, but it'd be nice if FFG packaged them so the maps weren't so high, where people are likely to cut.

Not much choice as the packaging is exactly the size it needs to be, any more would likely affect the price.

A tip for blister packs - place it flat on the table. Then use a box cutter to cut along the very outside edge, just inside the part where it's sealed. Cut straight lines along all four edges. Its pretty easy, as you can lean the box cutter against the raised edge and cut straight lines. And don't go too deep, only cut the first layer, so don't use too much pressure. You can run along the edge again if it didn't go deep enough. Once you've cut all four edges, carefully join the cuts around the corners. It doesn't need to fully join though. Then push a finger into one of the cuts, and pull the back off the front, it should come apart pretty easily. Nothing inside will be damaged.

I hate blister packaging with a passion that burns with the fire of a thousand suns.

So just to follow this up, I sent an email to FFG through their official form and told them what happened, they mailed me out a new map, agenda and command cards from the Bossk pack at no charge, got here yesterday.

Now THAT is customer service. Once again FFG shows the level of class and quality that defines their company. They've already got my business but this is just another reason to keep supporting them.

That's awesome man! Thanks for sharing your experience with us.

I flattened and laminated all my blister pack maps. Thinking about 3-hole punching them and throwing in a binder, as right now they are simply stacked together loose.

Oh yeah, FFG is incredible at customer service. It takes a while (still waiting on confirmation that my broken Shyla replacement that I requested 2 weeks ago is shipping) but they do get to it free of charge (very little questions asked) and that's truly remarkable.
