Who's your favourite card artist?

By Archonium, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Mine would definitely be Clint Langley, his artwork on some cards is simply astonishing. They really captivate the dark spirit of the Warhammer world. (Chaos Marauders, Bloodsworn, Servants of Khorne)

My honourable mentions would go to Daarken (Cover art with Broheim and Bloodthirster) and Michael Philippi (Bule, Lord of Pus and a lot of other Chaos cards).

My least favourite artist is definitely Franz Wohwinkel. Take a look at Warp Lighting Cannon. That is not a Skaven. That's Master Splinter. As far as the art is concerned, it's my least favourite card in the whole game. Otherwise it's one of my favourite ones!

For me it's Adrian Smith - his art is amazingly detailed and lively! I love what he's done with the dwarfs and orcs!! It's so much better than his older stuff. Karl Kopinski and Clint Langley are the other two names that come to mind - their stuff fits really nice along with Adrian's and makes the whole thing look really consistent. Most of the other illustrations are just 'meh'. Would be nice to see more Daarken in the next sets though.

I haven't bought the battle packs yet so I didn't know there was Franz Vohnwinkel stuff - I really hated some of that guy's work for Magic. The Torment card "Insist" comes to mind... ugh. He has some nice landscape pictures though.

I guess there's not much chance to see Paolo Parente art for W:I? :)

My favorite artists are L5R ones that have branched into Magic and D&D (among other things). Steve Argyle tops that list, with Drew Baker not far behind. I`ve also always been a fan of William O`Connor from way back.

As for W:I artists, there`s some good stuff there, but nothing made me have to know who drew it. Maybe I`ll take a closer look the next time I play, to get a better appreciation.
