Carrie Fisher has passed away.

My understanding is VIII is done shooting but they will have to do something about IX for sure.

There is always the terrible wonky cgi from a certain recent Star Wars film they can replicate.

I'm sort of afraid they might try that for IX. I hope not. Filming for XIII was finished, and filming for IX won't even start for more than a year from now, so maybe the CGI would be improved enough that it could work, but...honestly, I hope not. Better to do some re-writes to XIII to bring her story to a close in that one (if it was already planned - it may well have been). That feels like that would be the best way to be respectful to the character and recognize the loss of the person so critical to making them come alive.

At least the f0ckin 2016 didnt make till end of shooting of VIII.

With the new movie it can be rewritten to include some tragedy between the movies, fortunately.

But then there is this pretty reliable rumour:

Leia is dead at the beginnig of VIII/dies right at the start due to retaliatory strike from the Order. They launched massive attack on the Resistance to thank them for destroying Starkiller Base.

I think the latter is more possible cause killing major character off screen...hell that would be definition of lame.

Earlier today I stated that Paul Simon's "Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes" was about Carrie Fisher, but my mother corrected me. "It's

So someone gave her the Anakin treatment? ;-)

Anyway, CGI Leia lives forever.

Princess Leia's Theme (link) . I always tell my younger friends that no matter how I go, I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra. - Carrie FisherPlease give our warm regards to Sir Peter, Sir Alec and Sir Christopher, dear Princess. It's now not just a boys club up there.

Don't forget Kenny too.

2016 sucks, I really hoped she would make it, d##n.

Was just about to post it, double hit for the family sadly, as bad as it sounds at least she does not have to go through outliving her daughter for a long time and the heartbreak of the funeral and the grief of everything

Be glad when this year is over

Debbie Reynolds, actress, singer, dancer, humanitarian, a star of Hollywood's Golden Era in her very own right. Passed away the day after her beloved daughter Carrie.

Make sure to call your mom and say you love her my lads.

Ok. This got me. Wanted to share.

Poor Billie Lourd

...... am I the only one starting to think 2016 will out last the entire human race? Come quick 2017, you're are only hope.

I truly hope Disney/Lucas Film has enough class to at least offer Billie all of Carrie's lines in EP9. Gen. Organa will clearly be written out of EP9 but the role that character will play should be inherited.

Although I doubt it, they could also go with the CGI horror that we saw in Rogue One.

It's understandable to finish up a few shots if the actor died mid way through the movie. To finish their last work is a good thing. However, to CGI a person recently deceased in a brand new production, unless they explicitly gave permission to do so before passing, is distasteful. Especially when there is a clear respectful way to handle this situation.

If they CGI her for EP9, I will flat out not go. If they announce that is their intentions before EP8 is out, not seeing that either. EP7 wasn't all that good anyways.

I realize this situation isn't Disney's fault and it really put them into a bind but they need to handle this very well. I realize it is fashionable these days to be a ******, especially in the quest for money, but really, there are ways for Disney to handle this without being ugly about it.

Let's not start worrying about a movie scheduled for 2019 before the funeral has even been scheduled.

HBO is moving up the Carrie/Debbie documentary up to premiere on Jan 7.

Tears will be shed.
