Carrie Fisher has passed away.
After seeing Han die I really felt that either Luke or Leia would die in VIII and the other in IX. Now with Fishers death will they rewrite for her to die in VIII in some manner, that unless it was already planned.
She will be missed for other talents as much as being the Princess, Senator, General.
@Punning Pundit: Dude. What's wrong with you?
What do you mean? I've literally quoted her as she'd like to be remembered.
Carrie Fisher was a hilarious person with a sharp wit.
None of the deaths in 2016 personally impacted me, I didn't grow up with a lot of those characters.
OTOH, for me, my youth has been passing into completed history one small piece at a time.
Or, in this case, a huge piece. May the Force be with her.
Edited by Darth MeanieMy understanding is VIII is done shooting but they will have to do something about IX for sure.
From what I understand she was likely in England for the reshoots that are going on right now. This will have more of an effect on Episode IX than VIII though.
She was in London filming season 3 of Catastrophe.

Yes, they will have to do some rewrites ..... oh, wait, they just lost their best script doctor.
Yes, they will have to sell the changes to the fans in a way not to be too distasteful ..... oh, wait, they just lost their best sells person and really the one person that could have sold it in a way to make it seem perfectly okay.
There was so much talent, on so many levels, that burned a light through so much darkness.

There is always the terrible wonky cgi from a certain recent Star Wars film they can replicate.
LOVE YOU PRINCESS...
I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of fans suddenly cried out in sadness and were suddenly silenced. I fear something terrible has happened.
Rest in peace Carrie Fisher.
Rest in Peace Carrie Fisher
2016 the worst year since 1942 for America.
:(
“The general has been after this a long time,” Poe said, as a way of beginning to take his leave.
Tekka smiled at some secret thought. “ ‘General.’ To me, she’s royalty.”
“Yeah, but don’t call her Princess,” Poe told him. “Not to her face. She doesn’t like it anymore. Really doesn’t like it.”
Rest in Peace Princess.
Edited by fistfulofforceI'll never forget the video I saw of her at Star Wars Celebration where, out of the blue, she asked fans to get up on stage and get selfies with her. Or her asking them to kiss her. She was nuts in the best possible way, and she always made time for her fans. One person I'm acquainted with on Starship Modeler told a story once that she was at a bar and this guy saw her there, and he had his ocarina with him. His friend basically forced him to go up to her and play Princess Leia's Theme on it. When he was done, she said that was the loveliest present anyone had given her and then hugged him. It really made his day.
Few movie stars are as appreciative of their fans as Carrie was in her life. She loved her fans because of how dedicated they were to her, and I think that made a real connection with them all. She was candid and genuine, with a passion for making people smile and laugh. And she succeeded, so many times. I think one of may favorite scenes she's ever done was a little bit part in The Big Bang Theory where Sheldon and James Earl Jones go to her house and ding-dong-ditch her. She runs out of the house and screams, "It's not funny anymore, James!!!" I bet when she heard about that, she laughed and agreed to do it immediately. Because that just seems like the kind of scene Carrie would have loved to do.
I regret never having met her in real life and telling her how much I loved her as a person and an actor.
Do any of you have any anecdotes, borrowed or otherwise, to share about her?
My favourite picture of her:
That is a great picture.
Just came out of my second screening of Rogue One, to this. Thank you Carrie, for being a vital part of what made Star Wars a great part of my life.
I will miss her. What a great lady. Makes me so glad that when she was at Rose City Comic Con in Portland in 2015 that I shelled out the $ to get the photo op with her for me and my daughter. That will always be a great memory for us.

Edited by EmricoBy far and away, she is - was, and still is - my favorite Disney Princess.
All the rest fail in comparison.
Rest well, sweet Princess.

I'm sort of afraid they might try that for IX. I hope not. Filming for XIII was finished, and filming for IX won't even start for more than a year from now, so maybe the CGI would be improved enough that it could work, but...honestly, I hope not. Better to do some re-writes to XIII to bring her story to a close in that one (if it was already planned - it may well have been). That feels like that would be the best way to be respectful to the character and recognize the loss of the person so critical to making them come alive.
"To me, she is royalty."
RIP, Pricess Leia
Carrie Fisher is the reason i can talk about my Bipolar openly.
She's more than just Princess Leia. She's a hero, a role model all of her own.
She'll be sorely missed.
So heartbroken to see this. What an amazing woman. Such a loss.

I told my wife today that Carrie Fisher's doggy wasn't just a pet, but an emotional support animal for her bipolar disorder.
My wife then said something like "oh hey! Like me!"
Because yes: Fisher had a mental illness, and she got care and treatment and it didn't stop her from having an awesome life.
FTR: if anyone needs to talk about stuff, do feel free to reach out to me. I've got a lot of experience dealing with a whole ton of mental weirdness.
And if you don't want to talk to me, that's fine. But please, Carrie Fisher would want you to talk to _someone_.
I always tell my younger friends that no matter how I go, I want it reported that I drowned in moonlight, strangled by my own bra.
