Carrie Fisher has passed away.

By BlodVargarna, in X-Wing

I had this idea... The idea is that in the new trilogy, at some point, Kylo Ren will be redeemed. I had this vision of him kneeling before his mother, begging her forgiveness. And she tearfully accepts him back into the fold and they embrace. A very emotional scene. I don't know if they planned to do something like that or not, but it would have been one helluva tearjerker if done right.

I know they filmed most of her scenes already, but I feel like something like that wouldn't have happened until 9, .... so I guess if that was a planned scene... it'll never happen now.

She has become more powerful that we can imagine

Oh god... this made me well up and smile at the same time. Thank you.

It was the first thought I had when I heard the news.

God, I wish Episode 7 hadn't wasted her presence. I was looking forward to 8 and 9 giving her a bigger role. She was by far the biggest star of the press tours leading up to the film, and I'm going to miss her acerbic observations.

She was also going to be one of the guests of honor at Emerald City Comic-Con this year (home of the Seattle Series Open), so I was hoping to get the chance to meet her and get a book signing or something.

8 is already done.

Rogue One confirmed they'll just synth and cgi her if needed. Still, firat our house nearly burns out, and then this.

They better not....

In the case of RO, it was OK because it was attempting to mimic her age almost 40 years ago. And Tarkin was OK because they had the consent of the Cushing family. That, and he was dead for 20-some years before RO.

Doing that with someone who just died, not so good.

2016 is not going down easily. Just yday I read Carrie's condition is stable

Stable just means that their condition isn't changing and no longer requires further medical intervention. Honestly, after two days of no news other than "stable condition", that was actually a bad sign.

For most of my 40 years on this planet she was the only princess that mattered to me. And no one else will ever be able to fill that metal bikini.

Carrie will be missed like you won't believe, but I'm sure she would want everyone to celebrate her life and appreciate her work.

The rest is silence.

Yeah thats one of those terms that in casual use you wouldnt use it in the way it means.

Stable usually makes people think the patient is recovering but otherwise fine. In truth, it just means death isnt immanent yet but still a possibility if they cant improve their condition.

Like VaeVictis said, not hearing anything for 2 days was bad. Im actually glad they didnt report she was getting worse.

RIP Ms Fisher,

Thank you for being a part of something that I love. I wish you well, whereever you are now, whatever you go on to do.

Regarding Ep 9 and CGI.. It's inevitable, unless she was already written out in Ep 8. As for consent, I'd imagine it was already in her contracts for 7 and 8. Producers have to cover all eventualities...

I think the best way to handle this is to have Leia die in a spaceship. Devastating, because no outsider could have done amything to save her and no need for new scenes.

This is sad news indeed. I loved how she came back to Star Wars and embraced it. An interesting woman that lead a turbulent and often not easy life.

Sadly she was sick for decades and heart problems were coming and after what happened last week, this news is not unexpected but certainly not wanted.

Alderaan's last regent has finally found their way to the force.

I'm not terribly sure what to say. None of the deaths in 2016 personally impacted me, I didn't grow up with a lot of those characters. I felt bad about it, but I didn't pay much mind or dedicate much time to it.

Carrie Fisher though.

That's definitely one that's hard to bear.

Rest in Peace, Carrie.

Regardless it's going to hurt badly, and EU and DC fans are hurting all over.

It's the drugs, the damage they do is permanent. On top of her current health, this is unwelcome as it is unsurprising.

Goodnight, Sweet Princess. And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest....

As Princess Leia, she strangled her oppressor with the chain he put her in.

As a human, she was outspokenly mentally ill, and actively talked about it- and never let it stop her.

As an actor, she knew what she meant to people, and would stop by conventions and buy a bunch of swag.

As for her death, she drowned in moonlight, strangled by her own bra. How many people can say that?

@Punning Pundit: Dude. What's wrong with you?

Sad news indeed.

@Punning Pundit: Dude. What's wrong with you?

What do you mean? I've literally quoted her as she'd like to be remembered.

My understanding is VIII is done shooting but they will have to do something about IX for sure.

From what I understand she was likely in England for the reshoots that are going on right now. This will have more of an effect on Episode IX than VIII though.

It is as if millions of fans cried out, and were suddenly silenced.

Wow...just wow. Makes me sad.
