Star Wars Rebels - Ending Prediction

By Crabbok, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I think most will die, some at Scarif and others before. Kanan will die at the hands of Vader.

Or Vader can be the dark side Revan who makes Ezra go all Zaalbar on Kanan's Mission Vao.

Well what would happen then would depend on whether the light or dark side of the Force path is chosen ;)

I don't think that the characters any/all have to die. I just think it would be better if at least a couple do...

“I can imagine doing that entire [scarif] battle from their point of view, whoever is on the Ghost at that point.” - Dave Filoni

General Syndula survives till R1. Chopper survives till R1. Crabby told you these things in his finely-narrated video. That leaves:

Sabine - Still has an arc to finish before her plot armor thins.

Ezra - Is the main character. The story started with him, it is about his experience with the rebels even if it takes a few arcs with the other characters, it will end if he dies. If he dies, that's the end. Of the show.

Kanan - He can die. But he probably won't because they maimed him. Getting injured tends to increase the lifespan of a character - crippling injuries, emotional trauma, loss of family; pain all serves to develop a character and characters in development tend not to die unless the story wants to seriously underline the mortality of the cast. Rebels might do that, but not just yet.

Wrex - Is Ezra's brotherly figure. He is the most likely to die in my opinion. Brothers always die in film, games, etc; it's easy pain, which is easy character development. His death would hurt Ezra, but Ezra has enough going on right now that he doesn't need Wrex to die to motivate him or develop him in a different direction. When that changes...

All of the supporting cast - Is expendable. Sato, Asmorigan, Hondo, Interpreter Droid; all expendable. It happened to Ashoka, it can happen to them.

There, are the options as I see them, feel free to critique or to place your bets.

(Do try to remember that this isn't Game of Thrones, or Westworld. The general audience isn't baying for blood, and The Galaxy is not a cruel place like Westeros or the Delos-Corp parks. Merciless sometimes, but not cruel. In Star Wars the good guys do win, the Force protects the humble and the needy, there's a divine spark in everyone, and even the bad guys can be saved once or twice. Merciless, yes, but not unforgiving.)

Rex isn't going to die. Filoni already stated that it's pretty much in his head-canon that Rex is the old guy on Endor.

NikSant-ROTJ.png

Dave Filoni speculated that Rex might be the old member of the Endor strike team from Return of the Jedi. "I really do think that Rex is that guy on Endor," he said, "I really do. Why else is there a bearded old guy on Endor, Tano? Why? It makes no sense. If you don't want that to happen, do you know what that means? I'm gonna make that happen, I'm getting like Palpatine, I'm getting power crazy."

Now Zeb on the other hand....

"Don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force."

Here's an idea. What if Vader's disdain for the Death Star was not just a question of pride, but also based on another plan? What if the reason that Vader is not hunting the Ghost crew down is because he is involved in training an army of force aware soldiers (the Inquisitor academy in the Deep Core)? That would be one reason why the Ghost crew could survive Rogue One yet be unable to rejoin the rest of the Rebellion.

Just a thought.

Kanan loses Ezra to Darkside, disappears on a remote planet never to be seen again

Sabine becomes leader of Mandalore and is quickly deposed by rivals

General Hera is left out of battle of Endor incase Rebellion needs to rebuild from a spectacular failure

Zeb and Kallus open a restaurant on Lothal, which Chopper accidently destroys

Grand Admiral Thrawn opens a chain of exclusive art galleries across the galaxy

AP-5 becomes Mon Mothra's personal assistant

Ezra and Kanan either have to die or not be apart of the rebellion by A New Hope because Luke is pretty certain he is the last jedi. Luke can't know about them unless they're dead and he cant meet them. Otherwise he would have mentioned them to Yoda in ESB or RotJ.

Ezra is no Luke. I honestly would be kinda mad if they tried to force him into the OT. Its not necessary and unless Ezra becomes a major player in the sequel trilogy, god help us, its morphing the OT for no good reason.

The film's are the story of the Skywalkers and it was absolutely Leia.

Kanan has to die because its Star Wars tradition for the master to die..of course episode 8 may buck that trend although im not so sure.

Or maybe, Darth Vader and his Inquisitors continue to hunt down Kanan and Ezra. Believing they're endangering the Rebels by staying with them, they set off on their own and there's a final showdown. In that, Kanan is killed and Ezra's fate is left unknown but he isn't with Darth Vader. Instead the audience is left wondering. That is until he shows up in a future cartoon set before The Force Awakens, or actually turns up in one of the movies.

As for the others, they don't have to die. Rebels are everywhere, and the crew of the Ghost could be elsewhere during the events of the Original Trilogy.

Though ending Rebels with them on Alderaan when the Deathstar appears would make that scene more horrific for the audience. I mean, a planet is destroyed but there's no characters we're emotionally invested in. Imagine watching A New Hope knowing that scene was what killed Hera, Zeb, Sabine, Kanan, Ezra, Chopper and possibly Rex.

BTW: Do we have confirmation that general Syndulla on rogue one is not her father?

I believe the Star Wars YouTube channel had something about it being her.

Just Like Rogue One

Well, we're not but they are.

Ok, I might be overthinking this but, Death Star 1 blows up, Lothal has a Jedi Temple with Kyber crystals and Death Star 2 will need those crystals. Add the fact industrial capacity isn't the only reason the Empire is on Lothal (as mentioned in season 2 pilot), and I think whatever happens is going to be around Empire Strikes Back, possibly even tie into the Bothan Spies that steal the second set of plans.

Spelling is Kyber.
