Star Wars Rebels - Ending Prediction

By Crabbok, in X-Wing Off-Topic

I have a sneaking suspicion that Star Wars Rebels might just take us all the way to the final battle of Rogue One - and allow us to see events from that film through the eyes of the ghost's crew. I don't know if that will be the series finale or not, but I can totally see them doing that and filling in background details from that story with events going on for Hera and the Ghost.

Do you think they'll take it that far?

I dont know if they will but it would be sweet if they did

It's already been hinted at that we might see the battle from their perspective.

How many seasons do they have planned? I think I heard 5 seasons somewhere, is that true?

I don't think the number of season is totally locked down, but I heard it was planned to only be a few, like 4 or 5. Something like that.

Supposedly, after this is over we may be getting another animated show about Luke's Jedi Academy.

I'll say here what I said in the Star Wars: Rebels Discussion thread on the main forum

Rebels ends post Rogue One, but we get to see some of their actions during the battle at Scarif. Not long after the battle, Bail Organa summons the crew of the Ghost to Alderaan to help plan a rescue of his daughter from the Empire. But unbeknownst to our heroes, as they're planning the rescue, a large moon-sized object comes out of hyperspace in orbit of the planet...

That would be a pretty depressing end to Rebels and I would be pretty sad if that's what happens to the crew we've come to know over the years. But, if any loose ends need to be tied up as to why we don't see or hear anything in-story about the Ghost crew later on (more specifically, Kanan and Ezra being Jedi and never referred to anywhere else), having them meet their tragic demise on Alderaan is a good way to do it.

That being said, I do hope that the writers have something more clever in mind than blowing everyone up on Alderaan or something like that.

I dunno. They may want to stay away from that unless theyre ready to stop producing Rebels, which right now i dont see happening for quite awhile.

If they show that fight, we know theyre all coming out of it dead. We never saw the VCX do anything other than move around but unless it blasted off early it most likely got caught along with the rest of the rebel fleet.

Hopefully they just all die.

Well, given Starwars habit of prequel stuff, they will die. Question is when.

Cant have any loose ends that can happen at the same time of the trilogy. God forbid the person(s) just decide to cut their loses and run rather than die for no reason, since we know whatever they die for wont matter in the Trilogy.

As a fan of Rebels, I have to say that if they're gonna kill the characters, they'd better do it in a meaningful way. Not just a blood stain on the Devastator, and not just one of many silenced voices.

I personally don't see why they would have to die by the OT anyways. In the old EU there were plenty of characters we never saw in the trilogy, but they still existed. Rebels shouldn't be any different.

I think all the Jedi characters have to die.

Now I'm not one of those people who believes Obi-Wan and Yoda are the only ones left by ep4. But I think any other Jedi would be in hiding.

Kanan and Ezra are far from hiding and Vader is more than aware of them. Just leaving them alone for the next several years doesn't make much sense unless they run away to the farthest ends if the galaxy or something.

It's entirely possible that some of them are dead by the time the battle happens at Scarif; the only we ones we know for sure are there are Hera and Chopper.

But we did see the VCX do stuff, I mean mostly it was just flying around but I spotted it in at least four different shots, and in one of them we saw it shoot down two TIEs. And the "rest of the rebel fleet" didn't all get caught, a lot of them jumped out before that Star Destroyer showed up. I mean, they can't have all been caught because otherwise the fleet wouldn't have had anyone available to defend Yavin from the Death Star.

Ezra could still survive. And be active during the original trilogy.

During Empire Strikes Back - Luke leaves Dagobah to go try and saves his friends. Obi Wan's force ghost says to Yoda "That boy is our last hope" to which Yoda replies "There is another".

Naturally you all think he's talking about Leia. (Pretty sure it was always intended to be Leia), but since Disney took over, they made it pretty clear that Leia never became a Jedi, so perhaps they can say that Yoda was referring to Ezra. Perhaps Ezra is the "another" - especially since he has communed with Yoda several times during the show so far.

The last scene will be the Ghost splattering across the bow of the Devastator ...

Naw dude... check it out I did a whole prediction video.

"That boy is our last hope"

"No, there is another"

"Not that one you green munchkin!"

The last scene will be the Ghost splattering across the bow of the Devastator ...

and ending with a starwarsized version of the southpark ending jingle...

I don't think that the characters any/all have to die. I just think it would be better if at least a couple do...

They will probably end up killing some of them, but hopefully not everyone. We can explain not seeing Hera because as a general she's relegated to the back-command and we can chalk up she was a part of other ops at the key times of Hoth/Endor.

The two in most question are Ezra and Kanan... maybe they keep one or both alive long enough and explain how they are forgotten about to see them return to help Luke rebuild the Jedi? Pretty sure Kanan will end up dying. Maybe that ends Ezra's training such that he gives up on the Jedi until post-ROTJ Luke finds him again?

You warmed my heart with this idea :D

You know that there's three years between ANH and ESB, right? That's three seasons for rebels to continue after Scarif, and a lot of time for Luke to meet up with Kanan and Ezra, although I'm pretty sure Kanan will die in the next couple seasons and Ezra won't exactly be a nice guy. There's still a lot of possibilities for the Ghost crew to be around for a long time.

Maul killed Qui Gon in a Phantom Menace, Obi Wan got killed by Vader in A New Hope, Mace by Anakin in Revenge of the Sith etc. I am sure Kanan is going go bite the bullet soon, he already lost his sight, he contributes very little, and there is a fight with Maul comming soon.

Ezra might come out of that fight alive, but may turn darkside and become Starkiller Vaders new apprentice...or simply loose the connection to the force, renouncing the force, the jedi and dissapear.

Btw prediction for Rogue Two: Vader kills an old jedi who used to be his master!!!

I think most will die, some at Scarif and others before. Kanan will die at the hands of Vader.
