How to play with a GR-75 Medium Transport?

By Seabook, in X-Wing

Keep in mind energy starts at full on your ship and upgrade cards that have an energy value (such as Ionization Reactor or dual laser turret).

I thought this was a tournament rule and the standard Huge Ships rules said that you do not start with any energy unless the missions states otherwise.

They made an errata a while ago, now Huge ships start with full energy on everything.

I don't seem to find any reference for starting energy. It used to be there at all any longer?

What page/paragraph of the FAQ or Rules is the errata you see?

The answer you seek is here. https://images-cdn.fantasyflightgames.com/filer_public/d1/0a/d10a49e9-6a34-44f9-9881-a640a108d20b/epic_tournament_rules_v32.pdf

Page 4 under Deployment Procedures.

7. Players assign Energy tokens to each of their Huge ships and their equipped secondary weapons up to its energy limit.

Yes, I did say that??? I'm not sure what you are trying to say here?

[Edit: Yes I know it says that in the tournament rules and I said so in my post above. I specifically was asking for the rule in the FAQ or Standard Rules]

Does this help clear it up?

Which is NOT the same as ships beginning with full energy on ALL of its upgrades.

Epic ships may not begin with full energy on the ship and secondary weapons. The DO NOT begin with energy on any of their non-weapon upgrades. At least TWICE now people have stated that mistake as fact.

Which is why I specifically pulled out line 7? It states what does get energy? I never said -all- the upgrades do.

I'm sorry if that seem directed at you when the real target was deep in the quoted section. That One Guy and williamames3 have both stated that Epic ships started with ALL the upgrades getting full energy although williamames later admitted that mistake after it was pointed out and MegaSilver jumped in believing full energy for all upgrade.

When it doesn't get any weapons it is important to realize the GR-75 doesn't have a lot of energy to work with although it may sport a number of upgrades that use it.

The great problem with too many nested quotes, you never know the entirety of what is being replied to.

When it comes to starting energy you're going to be using the epic ship rules and tournament rules. There's no reason for Energy to be in the FAQ or Standard rules at this time as there is nothing that goes into the standard game that uses Energy.

However for many that don't play in tournaments we often don't refer to tournament rules.

So maybe they need an Epic FAQ that also happens to include the tournament rules for epic.

Perhaps, then it would be in the rules. But as it is now, or at least as I understand it, there isn't anything in the rules that says a Huge ships starts with any energy on the ship card or upgrades except for tournament play.

That was the only point I was making.

That may be although Epic ships without Energy are a bit dull. The default is no energy unless a scenario calls for it. The tournament rule is full ship and weapons. No where is there a "full energy to everything" rule.

Then for Standard games that would make it a house rule, which is okay, but that is all I was really saying.
