Docking Clamps, the Gozanti, and a Whole Lot of TIEs

By A Curious Punnisher Player, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Awhile ago, I posted about Youngster, and if his ability worked on TIE/fos, and TIE/sfs. We came to a common consensus that they did count as TIE Fighters, for the Youngster ability. So let's look at the more iconic piece of the expansion, the Gozanti herself. The Docking Clamps read "You may dock up to 4 TIE Fighters, TIE Interceptors, TIE Bombers, or TIE Advanced to this ship. All of these ships must have the same ship type." So, are TIE/fos, /sfs still TIEs? Would I be allowed to dock an Epsilon Squadron Pilot, along with "Howlrunner", an Academy, and "Backdraft"? Or would I only be able to run 4 /fos on a Gozanti? Am I allowed to mix them?

The Gozanti can carry all three types of TIE Fighters. I believe that they all need to be the same

model though.

Which is a little off-canon, because when you see a Gozanti on Rebels, it's quite often carrying different types of TIE.

But I'd agree with WWHSD that probably all have to be the same sub-type of TIE Fighter.

Agreed.

All are TIE Fighters, but none are 'the same ship type'. So you can dock a TIE/sf Fighter but you have to dock only TIE/sf fighters if you do so.

Alright. Thanks, guys (and any gals).

Is ship type defined as model specific? I can't remember what the rule book said.

It's the text on the face of the dial, or the text under the pilot's name on the pilot card (except Darth Vader says x1 for no reason).

So no mixing SF, FO and LN...oh well.
