End of turn 2
End of turn 2
Impetus goes first as predicted. Concentrate fire, pummeling 4 dmg into Instigator, brace exhausted 2 front shields gone. And thats it, Impetus' game has run.
Instigator goes next and also disappears wide of the game. Holding back a bit more to be a roadblock for Demolisher, but otherwise, its game has similarly run its course.
So phone in question for everyone - Was there any point either of them bringing Raiders to the fight?

JJ's might get a Gozanti, but I'm not sure about GK's. It can circle back in....eventually?

From what I can see from the pics, it looks like the presence of Instigator held off JJ's squadron push for a round.
Black Squadron for JJ and Ciena for GK are the first casualties of the Empire's victory
Also, if they both flew them aggressively, Instigator should be right about in position to significantly influence Demo's positioning, and Impetuous should be able to threaten the ISD and/or the Gozanti in a turn or two.
Just now, Ardaedhel said:Also, if they both flew them aggressively, Instigator should be right about in position to significantly influence Demo's positioning, and Impetuous should be able to threaten the ISD and/or the Gozanti in a turn or two.
Keep in mind that with Solar Corona in play its much harder to threaten Gozanti as it needs a specific positioning to not be hit by corona.

It's true, though accuracies aren't the only way to kill flotillas. Also, the Raider's front arc is narrow enough that keeping it pointed away from the side isn't a huge ask.
Though, I'm watching through a soda straw-sized slide show, so this is largely speculative.
Big move coming up...What will JJs Demo do...
Vaders squads are isolated away from their Raider and Kallus ISD support. Mauler and Black squad take the opportunity to jump in. Ciena down to 2 health, whilst Mauler take 1 dmg and Black squad 2. Fiesty.
Yup, Vader responds with his own Gozanti activation. Valen destroys Black squad. Mauler down to 1hp and brace discarded. Gotta hurt.
And JJ's ISD follows up with a squad command, very much looks like JJ wants the squad game over and done with. Tempest takes out Ciena, receiving 2 dmg in return. She really outdid herself here, but will it be enough? Jonus moves in on Instigator and chickens out of sitting where I suspect Vader's ISD and Demo want to go.
Vader punshes JJ. Even at long range, Vader can turn an ISD double arc into a very painful thing. Drills out the ISD front shields. Not majorly important however, as I cant see what else is going to shoot the ISD front. 1 hull damage delivered. JJ was uneasy about using brace, probably because of the lurking Demo.
On the phone in question - Whilst the two raiders are unlikely to produce much in terms of kill points. They have used their threat to both squadrons and ships to control the early game and dictate tempo. Instigator as Ard points out, prevented the squadron fight for an entire turn. Not bad for 44pts at all.
GKs Instigator goes down to Demo
End of turn 3...Things are happening
In a move of two Demos, JJ moves in and takes out Instigator. GK responds strongly by maiming Demo and moving in to threaten the ISD. Nice fork maneuver with JJ forced to choose between saving Demo or protecting his ISD from pain.
Strong response.

Strong response.
Edit: no idea why double post, but its seems appropriate to a post of two demos
Edited by GinkapoBefore GK moved it looked very much like JJ was planning to escape with his Raider, Gozanti and Demo whilst leaving ISD to tank till the end.
GK has responded, "NO YOU DONT, WE PLAY, SHIPS FIGHT, PEW PEW"
JJ interestingly presses with his Demo against GKs avenger.
JJs dice have been HOT.

JJs ISD goes down!
Which is really funny when read in the context of Dras' bizarre double posts.
End of turn 4!
JJs 206 - GK 137
A fantastic game!
Congrats to both!
Final board state...
I'll do a full write-up and post the log on the morrow.
It was very exciting and tense the whole way. Setup and initial maneuvering for advantage. The mini-squad game. The sudden brutal clash. Hot hot dice (JJ should never take reroll upgrades - doesn't need then). Crippling criticals on both sides.
And then it was over...
All hail the Champ!
