Armada Second Annual Vassal World Cup

By BiggsIRL, in Star Wars: Armada

My plans were cancelled for the morning due to ice storm. So CNinja and I are going to get our Pod 6 game started in about 30 minutes.

EDIT: There's a chance we might be on Discord, too.

EDIT 2: Discord indeed.

JJ going for the Clontroper5 Memorial Award for Finishing His Pod First.

Biggs, can you update the first page so we can see all the pods/lists?

Your deepest desires have come true.

HERO has informed me that he will not be able to play any more of his games. Because he already has played one, each of his remaining opponents will be awarded 8 points and 140 MOV each.

This is the second time in a row where unforeseen life + work events have deterred me from playing in this series.

:(

Wife exercised the veto this time for my game with Dab. We had a miscommunication for my game with Zanos, so it's just too many games in a short period of time for her. I'm working with Dab to reschedule.

Truthiness vs Zanos ended with a 262-114 point win for Zanos. Zanos had first player, using Truthiness' Station Assault.

Reath28 vs JRockNZ starting in 40min.

POD 6

Ardaedhel and comatose

Wednesday, January 18, 6pm GMT-6

Hopefully the third time's the charm for getting this scheduled.

I've had to postpone playing NebulonB unfortunately. New date and time to be confirmed

Each pod winner and runner-up will be matched up for the elimination round as follows:

Pod winners will be matched with runner ups from opposite pods. The winner of Pod #1 will be matched with the runner up to Pod #8, the winner of Pod #2 with the winner of Pod #7, etc.
From this point on, winners of each match will be matched up with the winner of the neighboring match until only one player remains.

Can you define "neighboring match"?

This I get:

W POD 1 vs R POD 8
R POD 1 vs W POD 8
W POD 2 vs R POD 7
R POD 2 vs W POD 7
W POD 3 vs R POD 6
R POD 3 vs W POD 6
W POD 4 vs R POD 5
R POD 4 vs W POD 5
Does "neighboring match" mean that the winner of each pair here meets the other winner of that pair? I suppose it does. I'm not really a sports fan, so stuff like this isn't obvious to me :D

Ginkapo vs Aresius - 8.30 GMT tonight

Ginkapo vs NebB, probs next monday.

I take the opportunity to apologise to GK for playinf a game a week as advised by Biggs....

Current state of the WC.

POD 1:

4 of 6 games played

MattShadowlord has only one game played, but a very convincing victory there.

Reath28 has two games in - and a massive 19 TP thus far.

JRockNZ and thecactusman17 are both out of the running I'm afraid.

My guess: Matt + Reath (in no particular order)

POD 2:

2 of 6 games played

Ginkapo as one solid win.

Aresius has one very strong win.

Dr. Alex is in real trouble, with 2 losses and only 5 TP.

NebulonB has yet to play a single game.

My guess: too early to tell!

POD 3:

4 of 6 games played

Green Knight has a solid lead with 3 wins.

Miedomeda has only 1 PT, but he has 2 matches still to go.

Lord Pryor and GS3 have similar scores after 2 games, and with a good final match either one could qualify.

My guess: Myself and one other (impossible to tell which)

POD 4:

5 of 6 games played

Skykake has a solid 23 PT after 3 battles. Probable 1st place.

Maturin also looking solid with 13, and 1 battle left (vs Brobafett). With a 10-1 in the final game he could claim the 1st place on better MoV.

Brobafett has 10 PT, 3 less than Maturin, so he'll need an 8-3 or better vs Matruin in the final game to claim 2nd place in the POD (7-4 is not enough due to MoV).

Emfrank is down and out, despite a win in his last game.

My guess: Skycake, followed by Maturin or possibly Brobafett.

POD 5:

5 of 6 games played

JJ with a solid 22 is in the lead. Mdh could climb past him with a 10-1 in his last game.

Mdh and Itzsteve both have 2 matches played and similar scores (13 and 10, respectively). Their last match will decide who goes on to the elimination rounds.

HERO. One loss vs. JJ and then threw in the towel.

My guess: JJ, followed by Mdh or possibly Itzsteve.

POD 6:

3 of 6 games played

Ninja has a comfortable lead with 1 game left.

Comatose also looking decent, but he needs a good last game to qualify.

Moodswing is in a bad place. he could theoretically still make it, but must win big AND needs a particualr combination of win/loss from the other 2 remaining POD matches.

Ardaedhel has yet to play a single game with his 4xMC20+3xGR MSU. Who knows what will happen?

My guess: Ninja is safe with at least a moderate loss. There rest is pretty much up in the air.

POD 7:

3 of 6 games played

Truthiness and PartyPotato both have 2 games played and the same moderate scores. The need to do well in their last match to have any hope of making it.

Zanos has only 1 game in, but it's a solid victory.

DabDarklighter has played 1 game, which he lost.

My guess: Hard to say. Every player could still make it.

POD 8:

3 of 6 games played

Roquax looks strong. One 6-5 loss there, followed by a 10-1. He only needs one more decent game to remain in the running.

Warlord has 2 games played, but only 8 PT. He needs a BIG win to possibly grab 2nd place.

PT106 and Thanos both have 1 game and moderate points, so will need to play convincingly the remaining 2 games.

My guess: Roquax and PT106, in any order. PT106 only has 1 game, but he beat Roquax, and looks strong.

Hope I didn't miss any games - or had any major brainfarts!

Apology accepted, Captain Ginkapo!

You will not possibly play another member of your POD again until the final.

Oh, right. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

Fleet patrol report. Dupy and I played our game last night with a 9-2 301-66 = 235 mov win going to me. It was a close game and could have gone either way finishing a 6-5. I got lucky with some good red dice and finished off an MC30. We both made some flying errors in the beginning that also could have potentially changed the game early. Dupy was a great appointment and sport. I'll post the log file in the battle report thread later today.

Current state of the WC.

POD 1:

5 of 6 games played

Reath28 has seized the 1st place with 26 pts.

MattShadowlord is in 2nd place and even if cactus beats him 10-1 he can't catch up.

To elimination rounds: Reath and Matt.

POD 6:

4 of 6 games played

Comatose also looking decent, 3 games played and 15 pts. Not sure it will be enough.

Ardaedhel with 1 solid win and 2 games left to play.

Moodswing is down and out.

To elimination rounds: Ninja and either Comatose or Ardaedhel, depending on how well Ardaedhel does in his 2 remaining games.

POD 7:

3 of 6 games played

Truthiness and PartyPotato both have 2 games played and the same moderate scores. The need to do well in their last match to have any hope of making it.

To elimination rounds: Roquax and PT106, in any order.
