Corran and Cassian

By Kyl0REN, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I just got the U-wing today and my first thought was how do I maximize it's defense. Then I figured out how. Here it is:

Cassian Andor - 35

VI -1

Pivot wing - 0

SJ - 4

Jan Ors - 2

RecSpec - 3

Corran Horn - 48

EU - 4

FCS - 2

PTL - 3

R2-D2 - 4

Prototype Pilot - 15

Chardaan refit - (-2)

Total: 100

Cassian deals some damage. Corran deals ALOT of damage and Cassian lies low for most of the Time until the late game when Corran has severely damaged the enemy. And the A wing blocker is to just get in the way. Cassian also helps free up Corran's dial by helping get rid of the PTL stress.

Feedback is appreciated.

Corran is good. I've yet to try him with Cassian, but I've had decent success with Heff and Biggs as his wingmen so it should be alright. I find flying Corran with Biggs, you don't really need to PTL in the early game, so you can save points by dropping to Heff instead of using Cassian. Also, I fly Heff because I'm not comfortable enough with the U-Wing yet to put more than 30 points on it. It just seems like if you get stressed multiple times with it you'll turn into a lambda and never be able to get guns on target again. Also, having a low PS U really helps to keep other ships from blocking Corran in the crucial early game. Heffs ability just happens to be icing on the cake to go with the great blocking utility of a large base at so few points.

If you haven't seen the list already it's:

Corran Horn: PTL, FCS, r2-D2, Engine (48)

Biggs: R4-D6, Integrated (26)

Heff: Pivot Wing, Zeb, Chopper, Tactical Jammer (or Enhanced Scopes depending on personal preference) (26)

I think Biggs will really be quite useful alongside Corran again with Kylo Ren on the horizon, as well as the occasional Wampa that will show up from time to time. You're also relatively immune to getting BMST'd in the early game, since Corran doesnt need to PTL while he's next to Biggs and Heff can ideally deny the actions that are required to BMST anyway. Also, Zeb on Heff combos really well with Biggs, because you can still shoot the ship that slammed into you, while they are forced to shoot at Biggs (possibly with a tactical jammer obstruction).

As, I said though, I've not actually tested Cassian with Corran yet so I can't really give feedback on your list unfortunately. I think you're on the right course though, as you should theoretically have the tools to protect Corran until the endgame. If you don't have succes with Cassian, feel free to try my list at tell me how it goes. In the meantime, I'll try to get some actual testing done with Cassian so that I can provide some feedback of worth. :P

you're going to want FCS over jammers. the defensive utility of jammers is highly suspect and the offensively reliability of FCS can't be beat

also, Rey crew is the best. Allows you to stack focus with not just focus but also a TL action on your first shot for full offensive mods. Also gives you focus after bumping or getting stressed.

FCS + rey + jan combine incredibly to give you tl + focus + evade

Update: I'm 4-1 with this list right now. I think FCS might be in order.

Cassian - 37

FCS -2

VI - 1

Rey - 2

Jan Ors - 2

Countermeasures - 3

Corran - 48

EU - 4

FCS -2

PTL - 3

R2-D2 - 4

Prototype pilot -15

Refit - (-2)

Total points: 100
