...so many Z-95s

By Wes Janson, in Star Wars: Armada

Hang on, don't the Lt.Blount card bits flip over to be generic z95s? So surely you've got potentially 4 rather than 2 generic z95s?

You're right! I'm opening several new expansions and fumbling around in a sea of tokens, which caused me to misplace the new ones. All is well!

And you were worried lol

By the end of next week I should have three new Imperial fighter packs for 6 TIE/Ds or 6 Decimators. I don't know if I should try the Decimator swarm for myself sooner, or wait for Mel's ATR-6s to come in and just deny the VTs ever happened :P

I admitted to myself I'm more of an Imperial player so I'm putting off collecting Zs for now, but I expect to face them enmasse in the future. I'll also be waiting for that inevitable circumstance when a Z-95 rolls up with an activation and one-shots a TIE Defender squadron. **** concussion missiles!

Yeah all the uniques outside of the Campaign box are dual sided.

Campaign box, far as i can tell, are all mimic'd on both sides to be the same thing.

Yeah, they are the same on both sides in CC.

Is there a way to make the Z red dice for anti squadron more reliable?

Is there a way to make the Z red dice for anti squadron more reliable?

Only utilising both Swarm thats intrinsic to them, and Blount as an add-on....

Everything else, fighter-wise, is Blue-Die based (Toryn Farr) and thus, doesn't help you...

The best way to help their red dice hit is to take MOAR of them!

The only way to justify them being cheaper than the TIEs and possibly hitting harder is to not make their shots more reliable. After all, they can take out generic fighters twice as expensive as they are.

Like, 5% of the time :D

I know, its probably higher than that, when were considering a 5 hull craft, not a 6 hull craft... A 6 hull craft is like, 1% of the time.... :D

I was actually more surprised by seeing 2 Decimators! I actually want to try more of them myself.

Testing a 3 decimator, Morna, IG, Dengar list pretty soon. Just a ball of Counter. http://armadawarlords.hivelabs.solutions/view_list.php?token=62457&key=e81765e4b8a5acdfaabd9c92b5f28470

Looks interesting! I'd probably change some of the objectives to CC ones just to test more of them out and maybe take out one Decimator for a Black Squadron for a cheap counter escort and Colonel Jendon for IG/Decimator fun. Hmmm, maybe Close Ranged Intel Scan, Ion Cannon/Fighter Ambush, and not really any of the navigational CC ones for this list.

I'll give it a go if I can soon.

Anyone's opinions on Decimators? The heavy makes them a bit of a hard sell to me. Do they work more in a fleet that doesn't care about AA for defense?

Yeah, it's a significant savings over those, ahem, pricey A-wing squadrons. They really are a great screen for cheap.

But man, my 8 flights of readied Z-95's are 'dakka factories', they shoot a bunch, should hit hard, and whiff every time. That said, they're insanely fun. Now I need to start bolting some extra barrels and painting big red maws on a few. There's got to be a picture in here to adequately express my feelings... -rummages-

I'm interested to know how the YT1300's do, especially if there's a chance at 'All wings report in' or, 'da big red button!' as I've been mentally picturing it.

Everyone should know my feelings on the 1300's . . . BEST SQUADRON EVER!

I have great success with Decimators in my limited use. In two games they have claimed an Assault Frigate MkIIA, and a CR90, along with out 8 flights of fighters. They have enough firepower that 3 of them spent the game chasing the MkII while the TIE Interceptors kept enemy fighters at bay. The result was like a wolf pack going after large prey. It just couldn't hold up to all the tiny bites.

I could see FFG putting out a flotilla upgrade like bomber command. Just call it fighter command... allows 1 re-roll of a squadron attack die.

What, like flight controllers?

What, like flight controllers?

I think the intent was "As a bubble instead of during a squad command"

Dras was picking up what I was laying down.

Fighter Command 8 pt

Squadrons at distance 1-5 can re-roll a single attack die when attacking a squadron.

Toryn Farr?

Toryn Farr?

She only works on blue dice.

What, like flight controllers?

Flight Controllers doesn't act the same as Bomber Command.

What about:

Fighter Command 8 pt

Friendly Squadrons, without Bomber and at distance 1-5 gain Swarm.

Why not include bombers? And adding swarm does nothing for Z's. So 8 pts seems steep for a card that only helps imps and A wings.

This would allow every Imp squad to have at least Counter 2 when Dengar and Howl are running with it. So no. Bad upgrade.
