Snap Shot, additional Die

Just wondering if Snap Shot works with Mauler Mithel, Backstabber, Zuckuss, Zeta Leader amd other pilots that add red die when they attack.

FAQ 4.23 states that adding a die counts as modifying the die roll, which would lead to the conclusion that Snap Shot overrides these pilot abilities. However I still people flying this combination in List Juggler and the net does state thatcher combo is valid...

Adding a die to the handful of dice you are about to roll is not modification.

Adding a result after the dice have been rolled IS modification.

Remember that Snap Shot is a secondary weapon, so effects that specify primary weapon only don't work with it.

Exactly three things are modifications:

1. Adding dice results.

2. Changing dice results.

3. Rerolling dice.

The timing is irrelevant. If one of these three thing occurs it is a modification. Likewise, something doesn't become a modification just because it happens during the "Modify Attack Dice" step or the "Modify Defense Dice" step.

If you add a die that needs to be rolled, it is not a modification. It is only a modification if you are instructed to add a die set to a specific result.

I don't understand how or where Snap Shot is a secondary Weapon. Can anyone point it out, please?

It would mean that you don't roll an extra dice for range 1?

A secondary weapon is any attack that isn't a primary weapon, basically (in particular, any upgrade that has the Attack: header). Most of those are missiles, torpedoes, turrets and cannons, but the exceptions to that general rule are Snap Shot and Hot Shot Blaster.

And yes, you don't get the range bonus for Snap Shot. but that doesn't mean you can't get other extra dice like the various named TIE FIghter pilots, Swarm Leader, Opportunist, etc.

Opportunist + Snap Shot is a combo I hadn't considered before. Of course you need A-Wing Test Pilot to pull it off, and Opportunist is probably too expensive for an attack you can't modify, but still.

That's correct.

You can tell it's a secondary weapon because the card text has the Attack header. it has an attack value and a range value. See page 16 of the rules reference.

Juke and Autothrusters are the same price, and doesn't cost a stress.

Maybe I'm lost here, but what is the point of Autothruster in this deal instead of Opportunist...

It's just a good card that you can now afford because you didn't pay too much for Opportunist.

Would N'Dru Suhlak's ability workth with this?
