Is this the best company for Poe and Keyan?

By Laziob, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So Im really taking my time on building a 3-ship Rebel list that think will work great with my kind of playstyle. For the moment, I believe I got Poe and Keyan builds figured out.

What I am struggling with is with the 3rd ship, that it HAS to be an A-wing. I started considering a GSP with prockets and PTL, but now I am thinking of putting a Jake Farrel.

For the moment the list goes like this:

Keyan Farlander (37)
B-Wing (29), Fire-Control System (2), Push the Limit (3), B-Wing/E2 (1), Jan Ors (2)

Poe Dameron (PS8 Version) (36)
T-70 X-Wing (31), BB-8 (2), Push the Limit (3)

Jake Farrell (27)
A-Wing (24), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Push the Limit (3), Juke (2)

The problem I am having, is that I dont know if Jake built like this will be able to contribute much to the party.

Opinions/suggestions??

Thanks!!

I prefer push and outmaneuver on Jake. With juke you always have to take an evade. Which limits his other actions. IMHO.

You can fit Biggs in the place of Jake as well. He can help Farlander early game. Along with Jan helping Biggs.

Yes, I like Outmanuever too, but Im one point shor for that combo.

I cant take Biggs because it has to be an A-wing

Why does it have to be an A-wing?

Why does it have to be an A-wing?

For two important reasons:

1) I really like them

2) Is the only ship I have left to use haha

I assume, you do not have any Autothrusters either?? Personally I would run a GSP w/ PTL, wired, prockets, given that Biggs isn't an option for you.

I used to run Jake, Poe and Keyan like this:

Jake Farrell (31) - A-Wing

Veteran Instincts (1), Proton Rockets (3), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Push The Limit (3)

Poe Dameron (36) - T-70 X-Wing

Push The Limit (3), BB-8 (2)

Keyan Farlander (33) - B-Wing

Opportunist (4)

If initiative bid is your thing, then swap Prockets for Chardaan Refit. I tried many versions of Farlander, and Opportunist was the best by far. Jan Ors repeatedly failed. I haven't flown this list since before Wave 9. There are some new goodies giving me the itch to break it out again: PS9 Poe with Pattern Analyzer, Farlander with Rage and Inspiring Recruit.

Sounds interesting, and quite similar to what I had in mind, so I will give a try to Opportunist, or maybe Rage too, though with rage you get stucked with much stress IMO. On the other hand, opportunist looks great when you have other ships with higher PS, though it depends on focusing fire, because you need to get the target rid of tokens, but at the same time, it makes the opponent "feel" that they need to have an evade or a focus and not spending it until Keyan attacks which may be good too.

As for Jake, I have a version of this list built like that, but I am not a fan of PRockets as I always feel that once fired, I dont know what else should I be doing with him. Maybe is just a matter of trust in his damage output haha

Rage should be paired with E2 title and Inspiring Recruit. Farlander can use Inspiring Recruit to remove both stress from Rage every time he attacks.

As for Jake, I've 1-shot Soontir twice with that Procket, and used it with Opportunist Farlander to Alpha Strike all kinds of targets. The trade-off is Prockets effectively costs 5 points on an A-wing, and with those points you could have Autothrusters for Poe and Jake, and leave a point for Initiative bid.

Got it. And how did you manage to stress Keyan with that? Doing always red manuevers?

What do you think of a version like this:

Keyan Farlander (31)

B-Wing (29), Fire-Control System (2), Adaptability (0)

Poe Dameron (PS8 Version) (39)

T-70 X-Wing (31), R5-P9 (3), Pattern Analyzer (2), Veteran Instincts (1), Autothrusters (2)

Jake Farrell (30)

A-Wing (24), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Proton Rockets (3), Push the Limit (3), Adaptability (0)

Opportunist is the source of the stress, then you spend it on the same attack.

Your list doesn't have a reliable source of stress; Farlander is just an overpriced soft target.

Lot's of people use Poe with VI. I am not one of them.

I never play Jake without VI; I can't tell you ifnAdaptability will be worth the point you save.

My bad, this was the squad I intended to share.

Keyan Farlander (35)

B-Wing (29), Fire-Control System (2), Opportunist (4)

Poe Dameron (PS8 Version) (39)

T-70 X-Wing (31), R5-P9 (3), Pattern Analyzer (2), Veteran Instincts (1), Autothrusters (2)

Jake Farrell (26)

A-Wing (24), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Outmaneuver (3), Veteran Instincts (1)

Opportunist is a situational card with a high price. It can be done though. Whenever I use Opportunist it is usually with Wes Janson, or if I and fielding several high PS ships which will set up a better chance. Just be careful, need to stay in focus fire mode, don't break off into individual dog fights.

My two cents is Rage with Farlander. 1 point and the focus is used on defense. Use the 3 extra points for Auto Thrusters on the Jake or Poe. Could even bring Ezra or Hera as a passenger with Farlander.

But adding Rage withouth Inspiring Recruit wont make Keyan accumulate too much stress that cant be used fast enough? So is it more worth it to reroll dice two times, (Rage and Fire Control Systems) leaving Keyan withouth barrel rolls and red manuevers, than adding an extra dice attack and re roll them (Opportunist and FCS), keeping barrel roll and green manuevers?

Also, with Rage, you cant use it on a consecutive turn unless you do a predictable green manuever to remove the remaining stress. And a stressed Keyan only needs 3 rerolls 2% of the time. His eyes are hits, so the only time you'll get full use of 3 rerolls is if you roll 3 blanks.

I get though that opportunist only works in certain conditions, and that with Rage you get a defensive focus, but if needed, Keyan could just use the focus action if he has Opport. and FCS.

Am I missing something??

And other thing. Poe already has Autothrusters, and putting them also on Jake isnt a bad idea, but I plan on having him at Range 1 with Outmanuever, so most of the times AT wont trigger to the rest of the ships he didnt Outmanuevered (Unless he outmanuevers every ship :P)
