CC Veteran Combos

By shmitty, in Star Wars: Armada

Veteran status is nice bonus in CC campaigns.

Reliable tokens and re-rolls will be a big bonus. I started brainstorming some upgrades that will combo well with being Veterans:

Liberty

Liaisons

Nav Teams

Rapid Launch Bays

Fleet Commands

Ten Numb

Luke

Nym

Any others that I missed?

Sorry, a reminder for us unlucky buggers living far from sources of Armada goodies and forced to endure the loooong shipping times over Xmas,

what's veteran status again? :)

A free Command token twice a game for ships.

Re-roll all attack dice twice a game for squadrons.

It's only twice in a game if you want to lose Veteran status.

Veteran status is a new token that is spent like a defense token. Use it once, flip to exhausted. Use twice, discard it.

If you don't discard the token, it is kept and refreshed for the next battle.

Cool. Comes in handy. How is the status gained? Surviving a battle or killing ships / squads?

Actually your very close: Survive a battle in which you scored the killng blow on a ship. (Only ship kills count)

Almost there, ForceSensitive. :)

A squadron can get vet status from killing a squadron.

" Each non-veteran ship that was not destroyed during the battle that destroyed at least one enemy ship becomes a veteran.

Each unique non-veteran squadron that was not destroyed during the battle that destroyed at least one enemy ship or squadron also becomes a veteran.

A Ship or squadron destroys and enemy ship or squadron if it performs an attack and the defender is destroyed after resolving damage."

- Ships can Destroy Ships

- Unique Squadrons can Destroy Ships or Squadrons.

- Mauler Mithel doing his Engagement Damage does not count, as its not an attack. Suck it, mauler.

Huh. Neat. Missed that/misread it.

We're thinking about spicing up the squadron campaign game thusly:

  1. All squadrons must start as non-unique versions
  2. If a squadron kills another squadron or ship and survives the battle, that squadron may then pay to upgrade to a unique squadron (ace or genique) of that fighter type.
  3. Unique squadrons may become veterans by the rules as described in the campaign.

It's only twice in a game if you want to lose Veteran status.

It's only done for the game if discarded.

Ah, I see! Thanks for the correction. Apparently I can't read. :)

No worries. I'm usually so geeked when reading new rules that I miss all kinds of important bits.

I am going to have to see if my group will do this.

Add Wedge, not that him or Luke will survive to be vets.

Along similar large dice pools lines, Keyan will benefit along with bossk.

Ig88 will be able to fish for a kill every game rerolling twice to ensure kills.

On the ship side, demolisher and admo will appreciate the back up nav. Yav as always wants the squad token, though will be somewhat difficult to make a vet whilst its bwings make the kills.

Yavaris is actually going to love getting the Nav and Engineering tokens so it can focus on squadron commands.

I can think of a few strong uses for those tokens, especially in the early game before fleets start unlocking extra upgrades. Some ships, for example, are going to want generic upgrades before they get to add unique ones like titles and officers. I imagine most ships that can take it will want ECMs for example.

I would only add that each Rebel player can add a single unique to their list at the beginning to represent more motivated/higher quality individuals they usually possessed.

My shrimp are going to LOVE veteran status...

My shrimp is definitely going to start with Admonition as it's only upgrade card!
