Face 2 Face Games Toronto Box Tourney Report

By thesug1, in Star Wars: Destiny

Face 2 Face Games, one of the local game stores in Toronto had a cool idea for a tournament. They took pre-orders for Destiny boxes and included free entry into this tournament for anyone who pre-ordered 1 or more boxes. Entry otherwise was $10 and you get a booster pack for entering, along with giving out packs as random prizes throughout the swiss rounds and more packs for the top placed players. Mind you I am an LCG player so this may be standard fare for CCG players, but regardless I like the format.

The store had a binder of singles set up, plenty of product and we had 18 people show up for the tournament which is pretty excellent! VTTV Live had their streaming set up which you can find on Youtube at:

I won the launch day tournament at the store with Han Rey so I decided to try something entirely different for this tournament. I went for an ePadme, Trooper, Trooper deck to see if mill was viable. Here is the list I ran:

The most interesting thing about the deck in my mind is how few legendaries it runs. It only has the two Thermal Detonators which I added about 10 minutes before the tourney because I had just traded for them. The funny thing is that, knowing what I know now, I would take them out of the deck.

At the start of the tourney, the TO announced that we were doing one game per match in 45 minute rounds. Tiebreakers in order were: total damage done, damage tokens on the field, and finally cards left in deck. In other words, if any of my games went to time I would lose. Not a good start!
