Can you buy a Force power during character creation?

Assuming you've taken Exile/Emergent as a second specialization, that is.

yup

Can you explain why? I don't want to disagree, but I'm curious about the reasoning. The XP table in the character creation chapter doesn't list Force powers as a viable choice, which is what has me wondering.

You can buy other specs at creation, including universal ones. Tells you the costs of buying new specs in step 6. Universal specs are explained the Force section and that they're the same as other specs except for cost. Once you have a FR you can buy powers. You can do it all at CHARGEN.

EotE and AoR are not really about “The Force” or Force powers. That’s what F&D is for.

So, it makes total sense to me that EotE or AoR might not talk about buying Force powers during CHARGEN. For EotE and AoR, if you are interested in the optional Force-related stuff that they do include, you will find that in the section about the Force Sensitive Exile or Force Sensitive Emergent (as appropriate).

But I don’t see any difference here between buying Force powers for an FSE, as opposed to buying talents for any other characters. That’s assuming the PC in question has bought the appropriate FSE spec, of course.

Honestly, I think you're making meters out of microns here but brad hits the nail on the head here.

It's probably not an efficient option for a long-term campaign, granted, since the usual advice there is to sink as much XP as you can into attributes at chargen and buy everything else later, but for a short-term campaign, or if someone really must be a force-sensitive right from the start, it's perfectly valid.

Its described atone of the last sections that you can spend remaining XP on things like other specialisations, skill ranks, the only thing that is called out that you cannot do is raise a skill ranks beyond 2 , but otherwise you can spend as normal.
