Well, that escalated...

By joewrightgm, in X-Wing

So I bought a U-wing on release day. Opened it up, and it was complete, save the two piece dial connector. I file a service request.

Later that evening, I found I dropped it on my carpet.

Well Darn says I. Oh well I think, ill have a spare dial connector when it comes.

I get a package for FFG. It's a box. Huh, I think, that's a lot of packaging for a dial connector.

I open it up, and I find a brand new U-wing. Nothing else.

Puzzled, I looked at my request email. In the description, I said two piece black plastic dial connector, sure enough.

So . . . Thanks FFG? Although I'm now in a conundrum as I now have two ships, and only 1 dial for it.

That's great behavior from ffg side, but i wouldnt share the story so they kindness wouldnt be abused.

It's cheaper to send you a new one then to RA it.

FFG is known to have great customer service. That's not that particularly great though, having misread your mail like that

Use the extra model as fodder for building some sort of ugly.

Get the dial upgrade kit?

Edit: or take apart a HWK-290 dial. Bet you're not using it anyway ;-)

I think I'll end up using it for scenarios like the starter box escort mission.

I don't mean to tell everyone so they take advantage, I just thought that was a weird thing, because it 'technically' didn't address the original concern.

Mostly it's a funny anecdote at the end of the day.

:)

I lost the same piece for a Most Wanted pack. They just sent me three of the little black buttons. Clearly the Rebellion gets better treatment that the rest of us Scum.

Aww, that's mean..!

But with the U-Wing out, yeah. The HWK isn't that great anymore, sadly. It could seriously use a buff.

A local guy opened up his new U-Wing at the store. It had two of the cardboard containing the front of the dial and no cardboard containing the back (i.e. the part with the actual maneuvers). You bet he's contacting FFG.

Jeez, I can't even get a U-wing since none of the stores near me have any.

FFG sets records for the best customer service ever. :)

So you're saying I should grab the ones at my FLGS and put them on eBay.

I've had similar experiences before with other miniature companies.

It probably just ends up cheaper and easier to write off a complete expansion than to have someone go track down a specific part from the factory in another country.

But it sounds like they didn't send an expansion box, just the ship model. Which is downright weird.

From what I read FFG have a wonderful support, but this posts might be enough to make it worst since some individuals might see a way to exploit it. Please consider this before posting. I doubt I ever gonna even use FFG support as I'm not based on USA and I don't think is worth sending parts that are cheaper than the shipping costs itself, but It would be a pity if the service is affected somehow by people exploiting it. They should ask for pictures and the proof of purchase in my opinion.

But the dial upgrade kit doesn't come with the most important piece, which is the ship's maneuvers...

I wish FFG sold the maneuver dials standalone. I got a few a little banged up (and I don't want to buy dial upgrade kits for all my collection).

Uh, yeah actually. I mean that's Lsa3cd3.png as hell but yeah, it's not the worst idea.

Just saying it's more an amusing anecdote; I certainly didn't think they'd send me that, especially since I didn't request it. I requested the 2 pice dial connector, not a whole ship!

I'LL HAVE YOU KNOW....

That I have flown my hwk a total of once, and it was really fun. So i'm gonna keep the dial together for that "one day soon".

FFG has good customer service. Asmodee is evil greedy Empire but I give hats off to FFG for great customer service. Thank you.

Only if you're an ashhole.

A 3rd place and a 5th in two tournaments with a HWK-290 in the list. And that list had a star viper as well in it. Can't complain about using the hwk-290 … now I have 3 of those. two still in the original packing, I might have shopped more than I ever need. ;-)

Eh, I've had mixed reviews. They blamed me for a tie fighter that broke off my gozanti, but then rushed out a gr75 for my Armada floatilla around the same time so ymmv
