Passing on this wave

Oh God... It's AdmiralNelson...

AdmiralNelson wrote these insanely long diatribes that called specific people out usually. The OP is quite tame and disappointing compared to those epic (if completely insane) screeds.

I am teasing, of course. You're allowed to be underwhelmed by a wave, and to express that opinion. It just made me chuckle.

I think I will pass on the squadron packs, as cool as they are, for awhile till I play some more with the original ones, but definitely want both the Pelta and the Arquitens for my collection. Might use the Pelta more often than the Arq, but both are still cool ships.

I like thematic fleets, so a patrol fleet of a Gladiator, Arquitens, and two Raiders might be a fun basis for a fleet.

That was probably the most epic rage quit I've ever observed.

I wonder what ever happened to his ships...

Fair enough. For the record I think the amount of kicking and screaming from people who have played zero games with wave 5 about what appears to be a quite excellent addition to the game is pedantic and pathetic, but everyone's allowed their opinion - I just don't need to respect it by default.

And AdmiralNelson was something else. I remember hearing about how he actually admitted he was wrong once wave 4 was announced but it was another case of kicking and screaming about completely untested additions to the game. The banhammer fell on him hard and he deserved it.

My problem with the squadron pack is that to get the fighters you want/need, you end up with more left over freighter-sized ships than you could ever logically use. To me, the fighters should have been 3 or 4 of each type and the freighter-sized vessels should have been packaged together separately like the YT's and the bounty hunters.

Definitely. I would have been happier with, say, 2 more Z-95's, and only one copy of each larger ship. I have loved Z's as an underdog ship since Xwing versus Tie Fighter, and only 2 of the Rebs only swarm ship is pants on head slow.

Imperials maybe the same thing but with 3 of each fighter, rather than 4 of one of them? Probably could even stay how that particular pack exists, really, as both Phantoms and Predators are rare elite fighters, while Decimators are really just really small escort ships.

This is the great thing though. You can still play and not have those ships. I still do not have wave 4 ships and don't plan on getting them. Wave 3 was great for me. Wave 5 is another great ships that I enjoy. Even when Armada does die, I will keep the ships on display. Getting my ass kicked in a game or tourney does not bother me. I just want to have fun and enjoy time playing.

Maybe wave 6 will fit your style better. Keep at it and enjoy the game.

I hope so! In the meantime, I'm playing IA, and liking it very much! Thanks!

Enjoy the Xbox, and the limitless salt of online play.

Instead of buying the XBOX, I caught up with IA. Man, this game is awesome!

I would imagine there will be a lively separates market, so you could buy the packs you need to support your z fetish then sell on the rest, I would imagine you will easily get your money back.

Wave V is a disappointment, particularly Phoenix Home. I believe that "fleet command" should be assigned to your designated flag ship, and that medium and large based ships should be able to carry squadrons regardless of an update. The squadrons are fine, in fact, impressive, but I'm afraid that I just can't bring myself to play this game anymore, without gasping at the nonsense that some of the upgrade cards are for this wave. How can a Crew add a defensive upgrade to a ship, and only to an imperial ship? Unlike X-Wing, this game has lost touch with the themes, and obvious function and distinctions between the different types of ships in the SW universe. I think that I'll be better served by buying an Xbox One, than the ships and squadrons that I had planned to buy.

While I'm totally agree that "fleet command" cards should be in your flag ship only, I think that your rage quit is a bit exaggerated. Just an opinion.

Well, I broke down and bought into this wave. Although I still believe that fleet commands should be added as an upgrade to whichever flag ship you decide to use. Wave Six made me comeback to play the game, and Wave 7 made me love it again!!!!

Just slap Chimera on an ISD. :P Get all the fleet commands! Honestly the Fleet Commands are okay at best. Though I haven't used them much.

I used All Fighters Follow Me! a few times to push Rebel squadrons faster, I'm not sure it was worth the cost of the Pelta and the upgrade. I do believe that the Pelta is an underestimated ship and can do alright if flown well, but I agree with @TallGiraffe regarding the initial fleet commands.

That being said I had Intensify Firepower! used against me on Vassal a few weeks back and that was brutal!

Huh. Now that I think about it, I'm really unsure what Fleet commands actually represent. Why can one fleet issue orders better than another, and why (Barring the Chimera) can you only issue one special order over and over? Perhaps a "Command Center" upgrade might make sense, but Fleet commands sound like they should be more like Legions command cards.

Regarding Rapid Launch Bays, those actually do make sense when you think about them; Fighter craft are at their most vulnerable on the ground/in a hangar and during takeoff since they're still moving slowly and have little room to manuever. While most ships can carry fighters, they would want to scramble fighters immediately, well before any enemy ships got ibto range. In a futuristic setting, it's not beyond the possibility (at least for science fantasy which doesn't care too much about technical explanations) that specialized hangar bays could be created to allow fighter craft to accelerate far more rapidly (Perhaps even literally launching them) with more protection. Such a modification would be highly situational and be much more expensive, thus the fleet point cost for taking Rapid Launch Bays.
