Hi all,
Question about the Solar Corona objective card.
The card states to choose a 3' edge but does not specify how far out the area extends. Is it the 3' by 3' area making it half of the board? Thanks!

It just means the 3' edge that you choose. Solar Corona doesn't care about you being in the corona, just if you have it in your firing arc. Since firing arcs and range are separate, you're going to be tracing the firing arcs of each ship to see if they have the 3' edge you picked in them.
To clarify, if the "East" edge is chosen as the corona, attacks made East-to-West can be made normally but those made West-to-East will be "blinded".
Basically, the second player is attacking out of the sun .
I know this is an old topic but I'm a little thick and not really understanding how to set this up and play it. Could I ask for a how to on exactly how the corona objective gets set up and played please.
"Setup: The first player must deploy all of his ships and squadrons before the second player. After the second player deploys ships and squadrons, the second player must choose 1 of the 3´ edges of the play area to be the corona.
Special Rule: While a ship is attacking, before resolving any attack effects, if any portion of the corona is inside the attacking hull zone's firing arc, the attacker must discard 1 die with a Accuracy icon from the attack pool, if able."
Its one of the more simple objectives. Place obstacles as usual. Then the first player places all of their fleet before the second player places theirs.
Then the second player then chooses
one
of the 3 foot sides of the place mat (The matt is 3 foot by 6 foot) to be the Corona.
The special rule of this objective, is that any time a ship is attacking, and if the attacking hull zones firing arc is within the 3 foot part of the playmat, after the attacker rolls its initial attack pool and if there is an accuracy icon showing on one or more die, you must discard 1 of those accuracy die.
Thats it.

It helps to have a laser, because when checking that arc you’ll sometimes need to see it go all the way to the table edge to be sure.

OK. This is the play area. The unbroken line at the top is your edge. The unbroken line at the bottom is my edge. Your ship is the “X,” the “Y” is my ship. The “C” off to the right indicates that the right-hand 3’ edge is the Corona. If your ship fires at my ship, you draw the lines that define your fire arc aaaalllll the way out to the edge of the board. If any part of your fire arc touches any part of the right-hand edge, you’re firing into the corona, and you must remove one accuracy result from your pool when attacking. It doesn’t matter how far away your ship is from the corona. If my ship (Y) fires back at your ship (X), I have to check to see if any part of my arc is in the corona as well (which might be possible, if I’m using say, a front arc shot from a ship with an exceptionally wide front arc, like a Liberty or ISD). It’s entirely possible that my front arc may be affected by the corona, while my left side arc may not, so if I have you double-arced, only my front shot will have to drop an accuracy.
Conceptually, the solar corona represents some nearby sun that’s creating radiation and throwing off the targeting sensors of any affected ship.

That is addressed in the rulebook of the campaign on page 8 for Task Battles:
"Some objectives that refer to the 3' edges of the play area can be played with Task Force battles. When players are instructed to choose a 3' edge of the play area, they must choose a non-player edge".
Ahhhh, totally missed that! (that booklet is terribly structured anyway. bits of information all over the place...)
