Epic Modular Add-Ons

By LunarSol, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Epic's by far my favorite way to play X-Wing and I was looking for some ways to make it a bit more accessible for game days. I thought I'd make a pre-built list for each of the huge ships; 100 for the smaller ones and 200 for the larger that would be easy to combine with some standard 100 point lists for Epic play.

Probably not the absolute most efficient lists you'll get, but easier to get into. I'm thinking the extra space in each point band can be used to inject some extra generic pilots that are better in the format but otherwise not making standard lists as well. Any advice is welcome; I'll be updating the original post with the current version of each list as I create/change them:

GR-75

100 points

PILOTS

GR-75 Medium Transport (60)
GR-75 Medium Transport (30), Bright Hope (5), Toryn Farr (6), Targeting Coordinator (4), EM Emitter (3), Comms Booster (4), Engine Booster (3), Automated Protocols (5)

Green Squadron Pilot (18)
A-Wing (19), A-Wing Test Pilot (0), Chardaan Refit (-2), Crack Shot (1), Trick Shot (0)

Blue Squadron Pilot (22)

CR90

Gozanti

Raider-class Corvette (fore) (58)
Raider-class Corvette (50), Homing Missiles (5), Impetuous (3)

Captain Jonus (25)
TIE Bomber (22), TIE Shuttle (0), Fleet Officer (3)

Scimitar Squadron Pilot (21) x 2

Yikes. 60 points on the transport is a bit rough. Suggest you dump the Targetting coordinator and EM emitter, unless you got something coming to make use of it. Otherwise, the transport is good. I've used similar. The point reduction should help your fighter escort.

Yay! Another fan of Epic! I like the idea, and I think having pre-designed squads is a great way to ease people into the format.

Your GR-75 has Targeting Coordinator; is that a legal upgrade? I always get hung up because the GR-75 doesn't have the target lock action, and doesn't even come with a range ruler. But I can't think of any rain that wouldn't work.

I'm looking forward to more of your ideas.

Slightly intentional. I find with the huge ships its easiest to make them too fat and then trim what you're not really getting any use from. I agree in general though; I'd probably prefer to see it closer to 50 points for sure. Any thoughts on what rebel generics would best fill the space?

I don't see why it wouldn't be legal. It's pretty similar to all the things in the game that can give you evade tokens without taking the evade action.

Precedens: Phantom got no Target Lock action yet it can equip FCS.

Yeah, yeah, I know all that. It just seems weird to TL without a weapon. But enough of how stupid I am.

Just added the Raider with some bombers. Might have better luck if I swap the chips for LRS though.

LOL I know what builder you use. Quad cannons instead of missiles really messes the list up.

Gozanti: 150pts squad.

Gozanti 40pts + Dual Laser Turret (5) + Automated Protocols (5) + Docking Clamps (0) = 50pts

4 x Royal Guard Tie Interceptor (22) + Predator (3) = 25pts x 4 = 100pts. Or Veteran Instincts + Autothrusters for the same cost.

I really wouldn't ever make a Gozanti with 100pts in it. 60 max, add WED-15 Repair Droid (2), Backup Shield Generator (3) and maybe Capt Needa (2) or Vader (3). Ordnance Experts (5) if you are using bombers, but that's expensive for just one die change per round. Suppressor title (6) if your can afford it.

EDIT: I appear to have misinterpreted your point total intention. All the same, a Gozanti really should have 4 ships attached.

And LagJanson is correct: why use Ordnance Tubes on that Raider when it has no ordnance equipped?

Weird. Never noticed that. :)

Problem with the squad builder I used. Those should be Homing Missiles.

Gozanti definitely gets 4 ships attached. Not super concerned with them being in the same 100 points as the Gozanti itself though. If someone wants to bring a Howlrunner mini-swarm or something its easy to attach the Gozanti. I do like the idea of keeping it around 50 and putting a couple Royal Guards in though.

I showed up with the epic ships on Tuesday and handed the Imperials the Raider sheet... only to discover the same scenario. All my homing missiles became quads.

I don't think you need to swap out the chips for LRS... assuming you're willing to coordinate or use a targeting coordinator on the Gozanti or something.

Yeah, its just a question of what to drop. A systems officer on Jonus would probably be the most efficient answer, but I'm not sure how to get even two points out of there.
