I think we at a point where building for 1st player is very important. There is no reason not to be 1st player excluding a Reikan build of course. Let me explain. I like running Rebs Mothma with a few black and blue mc30, 4 to 5 awings and a vett or 2. The problem I run into is that there are no Blue objectives that I can play (I have only tried 1 of the new ones) that scares anyone if they are 1st player. I go with Most Wanted (never taken) Hyper Assault (no one will pick that with MC30s ready to come in) and Intel Sweep., Of course 100% of the time they will take the blue objective cause it does nor Hurt them enough and First person is much more powerful. So this is where I think we are at. Are any of the new blues going to force someone to take Most Wanted or Hyper Assault if they go up against me?
Might as well build for init.
Good luck winning the bid! Around here it's not unusual to see 30+ point init bids. ![]()
Salvage Run could be a tricky choice... You're giving an MC30 force free Navigates, and they can swiftly move to claim objectives AND be protected by Dust Fields as they do so.
The question is - are you getting the best out of Hyperspace Assault? Typically, objectives that don't award bonus points aren't seen as the preferred in a lot of places...
Uhh? Intel Sweep is scary as hell with that kind of list. I'd still usually pick it because Most Wanted and Hyperspace Assault are worse most of the time, but forcing your opponent to play way far forward and mash their face into your MC30s or give up 75 points seems pretty solid to me.
If anything I'd be worried about Hyperspace Assault being made obsolete by Strategic
I currently have a list that is built for the opposite- dominating objectives. It's Navigation objective is sensor net, and with the new strategic ability, it's still a dangerous pick. That being said, I do think some of the older objectives are not as strong, but sensor net has definitely brought new new life into certain fleet archetypes.
With the speed and nav abilities of your mc30's, I would start considering the navigational hazards objective. Fast ships in a constantly moving objective field just sounds like soooo much fun!
Superior positions. None of my opponents picked it ever.
