Fleet Patrol Event Outline

Dras gots dem eagle eyes. Intriguing stuff.

So you play 2 games instead of 3?

Not for me. I prefer the 3rd game where I can still get a chance at breaking top 4.

I bet a lot of people who don't like tournament lengths will like this.

This was something that Iandinger(?) came up with... shorter 200-pt games so you can play on a weeknight after work?

Sounds like a lesser event to be run at small cons, evening gaming nights or for players who didn't make the cut for a 2 day event.

It was also piloted (with slightly different Rules, if I recall, than Ian's proposed set) at the FFG Play center for a local game night.

I can't remember which came first, Iandinger or the FFG variation, but I remember them both entering the conversation at roughly the same time.

Still, I think it is great that FFG is open to testing the bounds of Armada with CC, alternate competitive modes, and so on and so forth. I think it shows a high level of awareness on FFG's part that Armada is game played more on kitchen tables than tournament tables and the more ways they can give people to play it the longer interest will be held by the general population.

In addition to just being two rounds, games are also 120 minutes instead if 135. The only point of it seems to keep tournaments to 4 hours plus change.

I get it. It's a way to tell TOs that they're justified in organizing short tournaments, rather than not doing tournaments because there aren't blocks of 7+ hours available to host such events.

While I would prefer full tournaments, I think this is a good idea. You could do it on a Friday evening.
