Missing Yellow Objective

By GAThraawn, in Star Wars: Armada

Can someone who picked up a copy of the Corellian Conflict tell us what the fourth objective that we're missing is? The ones that have been spoiled so far have been Fighter Ambush, Jamming Barrier and Planetary Ion Cannon.

It's "Capture the VIP"

Space Hot Potato. Woohoo!.

I play a lot of 2X large ship fleets. This look super useful for me.

What is the special ability of Norra Wexley??? What the squadron with bomber mention get? I can't read it.

Friendly Bombers at Distance 1 gets a special ability - Crit Effect, Defending Hull Zone loses one shield.

So that'll be fun.

EDIT - So basically, your Bombers can eat up two shields on a single Crit. A lone B-Wing on a fantastic roll could drop the front shields on an ISD.

Yes - we'll be seeing Wexleyballs very soon.

Yavaris Wexleyballs.

*shudder*

Just to be sure, normally if there is a shield on a ship and you have a bomber who get a crit, it's one dammage to that shield. If there is no shield, it's one critical dommage to that ship (hull point).

With this special ability, if there a ship with 2 shields on the side that you attack, with a crit, you will do 2 dommage to the shield?

If there was only one shield, with a crit, you will do 1 dommage to the shield and one to the hull?

If there is no shield, only 1 critical dommage to the hull?

The new ability is to attack the shield and only the shiel on a dice with a crit. At least that the way I understand it.

It's a new critical effect that you can utilize instead of the standard crit effect to do an additional damage to shields before the rest of damage is added up and applied (Like all crit effects).

So, in essence you are correct, but the timing happens a bit differently.

This means if you are attacking a defense zone with 1 shield, suppose you roll a crit/damage on your black die. Normally, you would do 2 damage, which would typically eat the shield and then do a face-up damage to the defending ship (excepting the spending of defense tokens, the face up card with the standard crit effect on a bomber.)

With this ability, you can spend the crit effect to strip that shield, and then you will still have 2 damage (from the hit/crit), which will be done to the hull (again, excepting defense tokens), but will be done as face down cards, as you've already spent your crit effect.

Basically, its an option to strip shields faster until they're down and then you can get back to dealing face-up cards.

So this is just a crit effect. If you get a crit, after defense tokens are spent, you can resolve a crit, and immediately take off a shield, then normal damage it put through.

So a B-Wing with 3 crit/hits against an MC80, it can Brace and Redirect.

2 damage get moved, but the crit still triggers and you remove 1 from the defending hull zone.

Yes, outside of the fact that a non-unique B-Wing can't do three damage, because it's two Blues. But if you get two damage including a Crit, the defender can redirect the two damage from dice wherever, but the Crit effect can still be triggered to strip a shield from the defending zone.

And I like the example above - if you have two damage including a crit against a zone with one shield (ignoring defense tokens or assuming they're not spent), you could trigger the crit effect to strip the shield. You wouldn't get a face up damage on the hull, but you'd change hull damage from one to two.

B-Wings roll blue/black for a total of 3 damage.

Gah! You're right. I was thinking Firesprays, apparently.

Yeah - generic BWings are monsters, only held back by a 2-speed leash that there are now multiple ways to break free of.

Thank's folks, that what I tougth. And I'm really please with that new Y-Wing. They are really thematic but unfortunately, I rarely put them on my list (I prefered X-Wing or B-Wing insted of Y-Wing). But this will maybe change a bit ;)

To clarify a little more, the shield stripping happens at the beginning of the Resolve Damage step, just after defense tokens have been spent. In practice:

  • Redirect does nothing, as this is not "damage" at all. The hull zone first loses 1 shield, and then the normal damage can be redirected in the usual way.
  • Brace does nothing, for the same reason. The hull zone first loses 1 shield, and then the attack damage is halved and applied normally.
  • Contain does nothing - unless the ship is equipped with a Damage Control Officer upgrade, which negates the effect.
  • Scatter and (Mon Mothma'd) Evade can both still negate the effect altogether, of course.

Thanks for posting a solid clarification. That's the point I was trying to make as well, but didn't do it as succinctly. It's a nice way to guarantee to remove at least one point of damage to a specific hull zone.

Wouldn't it be more like ACM damage?

No, because ACM damage applies as damage, weather there are shields or not.

Loses 1 Shield, and does 1 damage, are very different.

that objective looks like a lot of fun. **** the new objectives are nice.
