The real question is who thinks LWF is worth 2 points
2 points for a near-permanent extra agility dice vs 4 points for an extra agility dice that disappears the second I get hit? Seems like a good deal to me.
Stealth Device costs 3.

Whoops.
Shows how little I've been using it. Edited to fix.

Edit: Stealth device costs 3, not 4. LF is still worth it to me.
The more health a ship has the more useful it becomes. It's more useful on a Tie/Sf and Bomber, for example, than the Striker. It also gets better if ther is a method of getting more focus tokens.
A TO isnt there to enforce rules to the T, theyre there to enforce a fun and fair time.
No they are not. They are there to make sure the event runs smoothly. Fun is not their problem. Fair is that everyone plays by the rules.
For instance, the Uwing technically can legally turn around then do a 2fwd when stressed. Every TO i know has told me if someone tries that in their tournaments (and they always make it known what shenanigans they wont put up with) theyre getting DQ'd because that is CLEARLY not intended, even if RAW it works.
That is exactly the kind of abuse of power that I'm talking about. They can not now what is intended, but they can know what the rules quite clearly say. Now they have the authority to make that decision, but they are not doing the right thing by doing so, because until FFG says something we can't actually know what's intended, and DQ'ing someone based on your personal opinion is the worse kind of abuse of power.
Myself I'd never play in an event with TO's like that, because you have gone way beyond Fly Casual and into "Play based on my arbitrary sense of what's fair" Just like the TO who refused to accept you could nest PtL.
As someone who very occasionally is a TO at the store (given I am usually running the stream) if someone does ask for a ruling I rule in accordance with the rules, but also take account of the situation.
If someone allows their opponent to roll 3 dice all game and only when they roll 3 evades or another suitable defence roll say "Uh...you roll your 2 and then your 1, you need to reroll that and follow that guideline." I expect to be called over...and this is how I would rule it:
He's right, you should roll 2 and 1, the card clearly states that, please make sure for the rest of the tournament that you do that and follow the card instructions.
I would then turn to the opponent who pointed out the 'mistake' and say "However, seeing as your opponent is keen on inconsistent application of the rules, I will let it slide in this instance. Keep your original roll but please do roll the correct 2 and then 1 in the future as we have discussed. As for you...I'm giving you a warning for unsportsmanship conduct, you had several opportunities to point out the mistake yet ignored it until you could manipulate the situation to get the desired outcome. Anymore incidents like this and I WILL have you disqualified."
In my eyes, the opponent manipulated events until it suited him to correct the game state, which in itself is against the rules. This is a 'fair' option while also abiding by the rules; the player was informed that he was incorrect and how he should be rolling. Yet the person who was intending to get a reroll of the very good defence dice doesn't get what he was hoping to manipulate out of his own shenanigans. He also knows that I'm not going to tolerate that kind of behaviour and he better watch his conduct in future games.
It's good to get bad habits out of people. Both bad habits. Is this an abuse of power? You could argue that, but it is the call I would make and I stand by that decision.

Agreed. It's better than Stealth Device and a point cheaper!
I try to stick to the rules as much as I can without being a d/(#. The reason is that the rules are there for a reason.
Attack, modify, then defend. I played against my friend John last Sunday. I attacked with 3 dice. He was at Range 3 behind an asteroid. He tried rolling 5 dice on the Striker claiming LWF as one. I explained it after his other dice have been rolled. He got a range die, and an asteroid die. That brought his total to 4 and could not use LWF.
Helps to be clear on rules for everybody. But had he rolled them all which die should be discarded? The Blank or the Evade?
Sticking to the rules in the most casual of games helps everyone become a better organized and consistent player with less chances of cross table conflict.
