Hello
I'm looking for information on some security measures for my YT2000. I'm suspicious that one or two PC's, with low morals, may be looking to steal the ship when they get the opportunity. I would like to counter this by applying some private/secret security measures.
I was thinking of the following items, and wondered if they were in existence in the RPG or what else I might do.
Firstly, I would like to fit a homing beacon, similar to what Han Solo had on the Falcon to rediscover his ship in The Force Awakens. Does the RPG have these?
Second, I would like a remote device that could inform me when someone is trying to break in, or access the ship.
Third, I would like a remote kill switch that is able to cut all power to the ship, when I am elsewhere.
My ship is already fitted with the Slave Circuit and has remote calling.
Any ideas if these things, or similar, exist?
Some Security Measure needed...
There are a couple of attachments in Special Modifications you might be interested in to make your ship more "Secure", neither of which take up any Hard Points. The first is an Encrypted computer (page 65), great for keeping ship-board data private. The second is (aptly named) Security Measures (page 67), which includes upgraded locks, decoy control panels, reinforced hatches, and other measures to make breaking in or stealing the ship much more difficult.
I'm suspicious that one or two PC's, with low morals, may be looking to steal the ship when they get the opportunity.
Unless you explicitly signed on for a backstabby game, my advice would be to skip the security measures and find better people to game with.
A killswitch that also vents the atmosphere after a countdown if the correct code isn't input. Keep an oxygen mask handy just in case
Arrange for the 2 PCs to accidentally fall down an open turbo shaft onto some knives....
Also there is the Ground buzzer in Fly Casual.
If you have an NPC droid on the ship, they could provide part of the active defenses while you’re gone. That could include anti-slicer defenses as well as operating physical defenses of the ship.
They could be in a droid socket so that they are integrated into the ship when needed, or you could leave out the droid socket and have them basically become part of the ship.
Let us not forget there are no shortage of NPC's that want to do the same thing (or worse, sabotage), so these items are still VERY useful even w/ a party of loyal/trustworthy PC's. Especially in the rougher parts of the Galaxy.
Are these fellow PCs? I've had the occasional experience where a new player says "I want to kill so-and-so in their sleep" and plots to murder the other players. At that point I either break out CLUE or stop inviting that player to the games.
