[SUGGESTION] Legendary Game Mode

By Eskandare, in X-Wing

We have standard and epic modes but, I think a Legendary mode allowing up to 300m vessels like the Nebulon B Frigate and the Imperial Light Cruiser to be allowed. It would most likely be played on a larger play field like a 3x6 as opposed to a 3x3, and probably about 500 or 600 point battles. Perhaps ramming and push rules (thinking of a certain scene) Also big money for FFG, I would definitely buy a Nebulon B and an Imperial Light Cruiser or two.

I think such a game mode would probably be stepping on the toes of Star Wars: Armada.

That scale would be best as a homebrew thing. Epic as it is isnt played that much, ive done an epic game about 6 times and ive still played way more than just about the entire local meta or people ive met from afar lol.

While i would love to have a legit, beautifully crafted ship pushing 2.5 feet in length, it wouldnt be practical for FFG to do that.

Let them first up the support for Epic and develop that as a true form of playing. There's still a lot of untapped potential and the lack of support is hurting it.

I'm all for super ultra huge models.... but I doubt it would happen. It'd be too expensive for most people to get.

Basically it would have to come without ANY upgrade cards. a Nebulon of Gladiator would have to come with ONLY it's own stuff - ZERO benefit for the players who can afford a $300 ship to suddenly get a Super crew card that benefits their non "Legendary" games.

Let's first start by giving the Scum faction an epic ship and see where we can head out from there.

Just having the option would be nice, ships 2x the length of the CR90 wouldn't be that bad.

Have a look at Joe's battle report here:

together with his Nebulon...and I know plenty of others have one of Mel's two versions...you just have to decide if you have a group who will appreciate the effort involved in putting together that kind of campaign [look at some of JBR7's and others similar posts] - if you do, then it's probably worth it ;)

I got hold of files for 3d-printing an Arquitens at anything from about 44cm up to 60cm, so it could act as an opponent for a Nebulon, but unfortunately they've got quite a few issues I need to sort before I can even begin thinking about printing one :(

I think if you want to fly larger ships, Armada may be the way to go.

I'd rather see a scum epic ship and maybe even other huge ships for the existing scale/factions. Make it too large and it really stops being about the dogfighting, which is what xwing is really all about.

If they sold the nebulon in 2-3 pieces, each piece playable on its own, I would definitely be in.

Just play Armada. Bring two ISDs and a bunch of TIEs out against your pitiful band of "rebels".

For a three piece Nebulon, the second piece will be a stick with greebles.

Who would buy a thing like that???

Just play Armada. Problem solved.

I would buy a thing like that. I have bought a thing like that. See the 2nd link in my signature for details.

. Epic as it is isnt played that much,

Epic is played a ton, it just isn't supported that much.

Which means a category above Epic isn't likely to be supported at all.

OTOH, if FFG released a Nebulon B, I'd certainly buy it.

A lot of people would buy the Neb B whether it got played or not. I rarely get to do anything with my Corvettes, Gozantis, Raiders, or Transports, but they still make some gorgeous models sitting on display. I would definitely like to see a scum epic first though.
