Pivot Wing and stress

By Dagonet, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Am I right in the following?

Pivot Wing triggers on revealing a dial; reveal the red stop, you may turn 180 degrees.

Stress triggers on revealing a dial; reveal a red maneuver, execute a white 2 straight maneuver instead of the maneuver on the dial.

So, if I'm stressed in a U-Wing, I can reveal my dial and then choose: go 2 straight. Or: turn 180, then go 2 straight.

Right?

With the rules as written it looks like you can.

This has come up a few times already. There's two pages of discussion on this about halfway down the front page of the rules forum but there are a couple of other threads where this is discussed.

Thanks, didn't come up with a search.

As mentioned there have been several discussions about it. I'm firmly in the "there's no actual rules supporting it working" camp but clearly that's not the only opinion.

Basically you should decide among your local group what you want to do and hope the FAQ answers this.

Huh? Far from not being supported, surely this is the only way it can work after the last FAQ update?

I don't really want to get into another multi page thread about this rehashing things I've said before but basically there is no opportunity to trigger the title because it's not one of the options listed for things you can trigger after revealing a red maneuver while stressed.

We already discussed it elsewhere and there are as many things to backup you can, as there are that you cannot - i would not write it in such arbitrary way. ;)

(no pls don't respod we already drained the topic in other thread :) )

Read this, there are as many "it can" as "it cannot" . For now - you need to decide it yourself.

I have read much of it. There is no valid claim against the pivot – only baseless conjecture. For now we should stick to the rules as written until FFG weigh in.

If you reveal a 'stop', you may activate the effect on 'Pivot Wing (Landing)'. That is how the rules are currently written. FFG may change those rules to avoid this exploit.

Really, I think the card probably should have just said 'If you are not stressed', but there's no point worrying about that now.

I think it's another case of FFG coming up with something they thought was going to be a cool dual-sided upgrade, but forgot to properly examine the "what ifs?" associated with it. And really, this one wasn't all that hard to discover.

Does anyone know how regionals tournaments have been ruling on this?

As far as im concerned for now they are ruled that you can without even blink of an eye.
