U - less predictable

By Smaeks, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I know u guys r up to the most efficient token/action synergy and this is not, as far as i can tell + its too expensive.

But i was theory crafting with the U as an attack shuttle and it might be less predictable , so more viable , or am i wrong .

May i missed some really important which the U wing essentially needs, dunno.

Suggestions ?

To keep it really unpredictable.
Dial in the red stop and pivot. Or, if there's a good chance you need to be elsewhere, self stress prior to revealing your dial and take the two straight (clearing your stress immediately).
Note that the pivot triggers on revealing a stop maneuver, not on executing it.

But would Kanan actually clear the stress from the rule forced 2 straight since the way it is written in the FAQ is:

Revealing Red Maneuvers When a player reveals a red maneuver for a stressed ship, he has an opportunity to resolve card effects that change the maneuver’s difficulty or change the maneuver to a different one (Adrenaline Rush, Navigator, etc.). After resolving these effects, if the ship would still be executing a red maneuver, the owner moves the ship as if it were assigned a white [ 2] maneuver instead. The speed, bearing, and difficulty of this maneuver cannot be changed.

Bold and size increase for clarity of what I am specifically referencing. This only says that you move the ship as if it were assigned a white maneuver not that you execute a white maneuver which is what Kanan's card says:

Once per round, after a friendly ship at Range 1-2 executes a white maneuver, you may remove 1 stress token from that ship.

When did the core rules change from the opponent selecting a non-red maneuver on the dial to the ship just performing a 2 maneuver?

I take it to mean that it actually executes a white 2 maneuver. It's the same wording as an Ion Token no? And Nien Nunb turns that green.

Ion token rule card does start off the same but continues to then say "After executing this maneuver..." so I am going to have to agree with you. I wonder if they didn't think about this possibility when they changed the rule about how to deal with revealing a red maneuver while stressed. I doubt they want you to be able to be stressed, reveal a red maneuver, move the 2 straight and clear the stress all at the same time. Especially considering the U-Wing's 180 after a red 0.

If they want to change it they'll probably errata Pivot Wing to trigger on executing the maneuver rather than revealing it. Even without Kanan you can turn around while stressed, which I doubt is the intent. Still, for the moment at least this seems to work.

This has probably been answered in some other thread, but can you pull off the "0 k-turn" if somebody bumped into your ship in the previous round?

Yeah, Kanan is just the icing on the cake.

Changing the rule to not handing over the dial to the opponent but taking a 2 straight instead does open up possibilities, not just for U-Wings but for any ship that can stress itself prior to moving and is at a reasonably high PS / equipped with IA.

Nopenopenope, not going there. I'll be over here now.
