If, through Maarek's ability, Major Explosion is selected causing another face up card, does Maarek's ability trigger again?
Maarek Stele and Major Explosion
Yes it does. Any faceup cards dealt during the attack cause the ability to trigger.
I would definitely say no. The Major Explosion was dealt by the attack, but a subsequent critical hit is dealt by Major Explosion.

And you'd be wrong because it's still being resolved within 'the attack' caused by Marek.

Irrelevant. Maarek's ability is 'when your attack deals a faceup damage' not 'when a faceup damage is dealt during your attack'.
Please consider checking actual card text before being so absolute.
We had this pop up at worlds. It definitely triggers his ability. Any faceup card be it from a crit roll, major explosion, advanced homing missiles, or even tractor beaming onto a rock where you get a crit result.

Go back and look at the timing chart for conducting an attack. In that context, the alternative text you've offered makes no difference. Cards are being dealt to the defender face up at step 7 of Maarek's attack. The source of the "face upness" matters not. It happened during his attack therefore his ability triggers.
All of that damage is part of one attack. It's no different from the damage a Tractor Beam (which doesn't deal damage?) can cause by driving a ship into a rock. It's also like the evil that is Rexlar who can make an attack with damage that may even lead to more damage cards that are all end up face down and then he spends the Focus as per his ability and turns them ALL face up again.

The source of the 'face upness' is indeed irrelevant. Of course, that was never in contention. Since my entire point was that damage that happens during the attack is not automatically damage dealt by the attack then you have neither refuted my position nor added anything new to the discussion. This is not a logical extrapolation of the rules. FFG may rule it that way (and I can see why they might), but that's a whole other matter.

Wouldn't be the first time Frank was wrong...
