Poe-Tycho-TLT build thoughts?

By RipleyDH, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Okay, so I have yet to go to a tournament, as there are practically no game stores where I live. That being said, I'm about to live in an area with a LOT of X-Wing, and I wanted some thoughts about this build I've been toying with. Any tips would be great!

Poe Dameron - 33

+ BB-8

Tycho Celchu - 31

+ PTL, Test Pilot, Chardaan, Exp. Interface, Rage

Gold Squadron Pilot - 24

+ TLT

Bandit Squadron Pilot - 12

100/100

The idea is to have the Z-95 try to block and Tycho to harass while the TLT works things down and Poe hits targets hard. Anything I should consider in tweaking the build, or is just atrocious to look at?

It all depends on what expansions you have but I would drop the z-95 and put proton rockets on Tycho. Also I would put PTL on Poe if you can, with BB-8 that means he can do 3 actions and end the round without stress. If you haven't got a second copy maybe someone could lend you one. If you're not putting a regen driod on him that's probably the best way to go. Losing the Z-95 should free up more than enough points

I recommend Integrated astromech and push the limit on Poe if you're running BB8. just to help Tokenstack if needed. I second dropping the z95 as well. If you have the heroes of the resistance kit then Primed Thrusters or Pattern Analyzer would work nicely, there is a lot of Stress mechanics that could hurt Poe in that build.

I'd run -

PS8 Poe

R5P9

Autothrusters

Pattern Analyser

PTL

Black One

-

42

Tycho Celchu

Prockets

Guidance Chips

Test Pilot

PTL

Rage

-

33

Gold Squadron

TLT

-

24

99pts

Poe can be a beast in this build and can regen to stick around late game. He can use Black One to help take some heat off of himself and the Gold Squadron pilot or Tycho if he happen to be nearby. Pattern analyser is pure gold in helping him to always have the focus he needs.

Tycho can blast up a flank and try to divide up the enemy and hit something hard with his prockets + focus + rage rerolls. Softening something up for Poe and the Gold Squadron to do their thing.

Gold Squadron is solid and can just dish out the damage while your opponent focuses on the aces.

Seems pretty good to me.

I like this but would be tempted to spend the extra point for R2-D2 as there is quite a lot of focus stealing mechanics going on that would just kill Poe's regen potential.

Yep, that'd work too. Personally feel that R2D2 makes Poe a bit predictable but it's not the end of the world if you're careful.

Okay, these replies are VERY useful, thanks guys! So far, I have the expansions/cards to do the first recommendation, but I have a feeling I'll have Heroes before the end of the holiday season.

I feel a lot better now about ditching the Z-95! I've been concerned that not having it would put me at a major disadvantage against larger health pools like trip-jumpmasters, but seeing this much consensus on it is relieving. Thanks!

His initial move might be predictable (still 5 greens to choose from), but he can certainly be all over the place with PTL and PA. He can end up at the same position as a 1 or 3 bank, 3 turn or a 1-5 straight, all while regenerating a shield, clearing a target lock, getting a focus, without ending with a stress. PS8 is enough to move last with most lists now, but if you have the points, PS9 is good.

With this build, do you think it'd be worth considering to drop the Black One title to make the y-wing a stress-bot?

Yeah you def could do that too. Personally, I like the deterrent of Black One to make opponents think twice about locking Poe in the first place. But adding R3A2 is a good shout.
