Party experience query

By TonyACT, in WFRP Rules Questions

OK - page 34 of first reading. It notes that each character gets one experience at the end of the session, and that the GM is able to award one point to the party (as an option). How does this work - do the party have to give it to one of the members? I thought it might mean they all get an extra point, if so, then why not say this; it sounds when I read it like there is only the one point and it is awarded to the party as a whole.

How are folks interpreting this?

The text reads 'an additional experience point to the entire party'. So I interpreted that as every party member gains 1 additional XP, for a total of 2, if the DM feels the party achieved a major milestone, the session was particularly memorable etc. etc.

Yes, read it again and I think you are right. One example of poor wording I guess when the previous para says every participating player gets a point, then the next one is saying the entire party, makes it sound like something different when it is in fact the same, just for a different reason. Guess they wanted to make the point that everyone gets it even if they have not been participating too effectively in whatever led to the award.

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
