I got one, but was wondering if getting two would be in order. you could make some interesting builds. thoughts anyone...
U-Wing ... one or two
1 seems fine to me. 2 might be interesting.
FGD in 3...2...1...
this is the longest 3 second count I've ever seen
I give him credit for the fact that his coundown post was a minute earlier than you replying.
Back on topic...try out 1, 2 isn't necessary in terms of upgrade cards since 1 gives you 2 Expertise and Inspiring Recruit cards. I personally don't see many reasons to run two except if you really want to for fun.
The correct number is zero. It's the most garbage ship--including its upgrades--to be released in a good long while. It does nothing to help address the needs of the Rebels right now in the meta game, and it doesn't fit into or support any of their current viable archetypes (e.g. Ghost/Biggs, K-Wings).
That being said, Inspiring Recruit allows for an interesting build or two across factions, so you might want one or two of those.
I'm underwhelmed by it as well. However I will purchase 1 because it's sexy as hell
Just one; for the expertise:
For the most part ive been having issues utilizing it. Its a support ship, but rebel crew and ship pricings dont really help that mentality much. A LOT of the crew overlap in usefulness on a support ship, as they are usually taken for the ship theyre on's benefit not the other ships.
Ive yet to actually play with it. Spent a good 3 hours or so trying to make a list and every list i felt like the Uwing would be a detriment not an asset. or i was doing an "all eggs in one basket" list and i despise those (you can REALLY make Corran mean with Cassian + Jyn + Inspiring around, but thats expensive as hell and Corran has a bad habit of going poof for me after 1 round even if he took 0 damage the first round).
So far I've only been able to come up with 2 lists I want to try with a U-Wing. First is a supporting Blue Pathfinder w/ Jyn & Jan flying with Jake & Poe. The other one is a bombing Blue Pathfinder w/ Chopper, Sabine, Cluster Mines, Adv Sensors flying with 2 bombing Warden Ks. I've had trouble getting Cassian as a pilot in any list. Maybe Cassian in a Rage list with Nien Nunb and Keyan Farlander

What are the Rebel needs?

well no, this here is nonsense
apart from a good chunk of the rogue 1 cast, namely bistan bodhi and whathisface Beardy Mcgee which are all absolutely worthless, the expansion itself is very solid and the ship itself isn't bad
it ain't rebel regen auto-include, but it isn't an X-wing or B-wing either
THREE...
Bodhi's pilot ability seems pretty under-rated for 25 points. Allowing your ships to serve as relays for acquiring target locks has value once the initial exchange starts breaking down, and his effective 3/2/4/4 statline isn't a bad one for that price.

Not everything has to feed the meta; in fact, its better when they don't.
Also, 'viable' LOL
Get 1, see if you like it. Getting multiple of ships before you every really get a chance to fly them can be a recipe for wasted money.
Edited by enigmahfcfunnily enough, despite the abysmal failure that is some of the rogue 1 crew, I'd actually rate the U expac as overall far more useful to the faction than Heroes of the Resistance
now I personally hate the yt-1300 in this game, but others locally have been trying their darndest to make rey work (to the point where she's literally half the tournament roster)
but no, she's just too expensive to make work
so far, the only big things you'll get out of heroes are
1.) the general tech
2.) rey crew, sadly forgotten due to Rey pilot while being incredible (seriously, use her!)
and ish on m9g8, who is an awesome design but isn't super high impact
meanwhile, the U gives you some nifty ships (at the very least, great bouncers for re-generators) and some real power in Cassian crew and, surprisingly, jyn crew too. The gal is surprisingly clutch, to the point where you can make some real jank looking **** win you games
for example, Soontir v invincible miranda
why invincible?
jyn + jan jank gives Miri an evade
+c3po
+regen
= any damage less than 3 is not doing a **** thing
Edited by ficklegreendiceGet two, get three if you play Epic. They will look glorious on the table.
I've been struggling to put together a list I like with the U-Wing. Came up with this one that I might try:
Pathfinder: title, FCS, Gunner, Captain Rex
Ezra: Rage, TLT, Inspiring Recruit
Poe(8): VI, title, R5-P9, Autothrusters, Pattern Analyzer.
So make the U-Wing a gunship? The free Focus after a miss from Captain Rex, synergizes with Gunner and FCS to make it pretty threatening. Ezra gets the benefits of his ability on defense and a really accurate TLT on offense. Regen Poe with title and PA for extra survivability.
The idea is to mess with targeting priority; Poe is the closer because Regen and PS10, but if my opponent guns for him the other two ships have highly modded red dice to dish out some hurt.
the U isn't really a gunship, as you're basically just getting a large base B-wing there
it's this weird hybrid blocker and jank machine
the U has 3 distinct advantages
--> cheap large base
--> cheap two crew slot
--> usually 2 agility
only way to reasonably exploit all 3 advantages is to load it with focus to make the 2 agility matter at all
rey (and rey especially because she works on 0-ks and on self bumps which you'll do a fair amount of), jyn, cass and jan are the first crew I'd reach for. You actually reach near x7 levels of defense stacking focus generation with jan evade; it's kinda funny
course you still take FCS because you still want to kill things
Why stop at 2? Buy as many as your store carries.
Love these things.
I've pre-ordered one, but I'll grab a second now that I've made a few PS2 lists.
2 in a list, both with FC, Tactician, Inspiring Recruit, Title
Then you can put whatever else you like alongside (Blue Bs, X-Wings, Y-Wings, Zs, As)
Really, the U-Wing is some middle ground between a support ship and an actual fighter. I suppose having them support each other would be fun, but I'd think 1 supporting/assisting your ace would be more than enough.
U-Wing is stupid fun and can be way more aggressive than you think. It's somewhere between a Lambda and an Aggressor...
So far the best list i can think of that isnt putting all my hope into a single ship to do the work is:
Heff Tobber 24
Seismic Torps (2)
Sensor Jammer (4)
APLasers (2)
Cassian Andor (2)
Jyn Erso (2)
Title (0)
Snap Wexley 28
VI (1)
Plasma Torps (3)
BB8 (2)
IA (0)
Title (1)
Primed Thrustors (1)
Jess Pava 25
R2 Astro (1)
IA (0)
Pattern Analyzer (2)
Total: 100
If i cut the torps, i can squeeze Ello with a 0pt EPT or Nunb with a 1pt EPT, but i honestly think im better with the plasma and point-sink seismic to bring Jess since ive used her quite a bit and shes a real thorn early game.
Heff goes forward and cockblocks people, causing potential damage and generating an action for someone.
Snap goes ballistic like he usually does, prime target for Jyn since hes probably going to be the main focus.
Jess distracts.
The only other list i could make that made any sense was banking on Corran not going POOF on me, and i dont like that.
This is a hard ship to list for....
