New RTL Campaign: Seeds of Corruption (REQUIRES SoN!)

By FrogTrigger, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

Nerekhall: Seeds of Corruption is a free campaign, coming soon to the Road to Legend companion app and inviting you to return to the dark deeds and intrigues perpetrated within the walls of Nerekhall. With seven brand-new story quests and a twisting storyline that bridges the cities of Greyhaven and Nerekhall, every group of adventurers will find more to enjoy in this new campaign.

Important note: In addition to the Descent: Journeys in the Dark Core Set , Nerekhall: Seeds of Corruption requires the Shadow of Nerekhall expansion to play.

Well I guess this answers my question from a few down on which campaign I should buy first :D Fortunately as well it was also the most recommended one, ha.

Aww it's the only one I don't own........ and now amazon has one less

I'm very stoked, seeing how Nerekhall is my favorite expansion, as it introduces city-tiles and opens up the possibillity for city and sewer settings. It also helps that I really like all the monsters and hero-classes both theme- and gameplay-wise.

The cherry on the cake for me is that this campaign is free, something I really didn't thought would happen again.

All I can say is that I'm REALLY impressed with FFG this time, making two bold moves at a time (releasing a campaign for an expansion and making it free). Although I didn't enjoy the Delve that much (imo it kind of lacked the really thematic settings that feel like a part of a world, which is one of my favorite things about Descent), I'm really glad right now that I managed to give FFG money for their tromendous app-efforts for this game.

I also really like the more RPG like vibe, with all the decisions and possibilities to influence the storyline FFG introduces with this campaign. This should manage to make the story-quests feel more connected and puts you more into the story.

Way to go FFG!

All this free content makes me feel less bad in having accumulated a Descent-collection that feels a little bit excessive to me.

I think a lot of people miss the mark with the Delve, it was never met to be an enthralling campaign with vivid pictures painted in our minds through their descriptive narrative.. it was meant to be something that had high replay ability that could keep us busy between campaign releases. I think it accomplishes that well with its randomness.

But I agree with you that FFG continues to impress with their app moves, this is a great decision. They also just released a new scenario for Mansions of Madness 2E that is $5 for a 2-3 hour estimated time commitment. That is incredible value. Well done FFG, well done. I keep looking at other games I want to try but with FFG hitting it out of the park with all their current games it's hard to stray to far :)

I think Delve is perfect for what it is... feel like dungeon crawling with some friends who can't commit to 10 sessions for a campaign? When you feel like smashing some monsters and play a single session it's perfect. I dig the narrative of the campaign as well, but Delve opens the experience up for more casual sessions.

How about the last 48 hours for FFG app users? another MoM scenario and a free Descent campaign. Very sweet.

Before anything else, I invite you to post this type of topics on the special subforum that you can find at the top of this forum: 8 quests). So my guessing is that the campaign structure will be:

1) Intro

2) 1st quest

3/4) 2nd quest (this one can vary depending on the outcome of the 1st quest; so 3rd quest)

5) 4th quest

6) Interlude

7) Act II quest

8) Finale

So this means that Act II will be short once again ... -_-

On the other side, it says changelings will be present during the campaign, which then means (I hope) we get to use Corrup Citizen Cards :D .

Verminious seems to be the lieutenant to use in this campaign :o

Another city to play with (wonder what action it will have)

And the most interesting thing...the picture that appears in the news indicates the map can have other tiles depending on which expansion you have :o . That tile from Labyrinth of Ruin indicates that the map layout can be like those H&M Quest mentioned time ago. I just hope it isn't another bug like the one in Kindred's Fire Interlude...

The cherry on the cake for me is that this campaign is free, something I really didn't thought would happen again.

Free if you own SoN. Quite expensive if you don't. Annoyingly I'm getting CtR for Christmas, mostly because I got it on sale; if this had been announced earlier I'd get SoN instead. Just have to get both now :( :)

This is fantastic!!! FANTASTIC!!!

And rather than paid DLC Im happy they release "free" scenarios that require existing content packs, thus promoting the sales of those packs (hey they need to cover the cost of making these adventures somehow, they are a business).

This means FFG get to make money on selling extra packs of the physical components, those already bought get free adventures, its awesome!!

Im also ok with paid DLC but this for me is the perfect solution as it rewards those collecting everything while promoting their own sales.

I personally dont see it as expensive considering the need to own the expansion because if you buy the expansion you get all the worth of its content, campaign, minis, tiles, cards etc PLUS this new RTL campaign, so it actually makes the expansion even better value.

Great stuff FFG thank you!!!!!!!

sounds great boosted my morale to take another go at the painting will it be ready in time :-)

Now, analyzing the news, it says it's a 7 quest campaign, which is one less than Kindred Fire (which has 8 quests ). So my guessing is that the campaign structure will be:

1) Intro

2) 1st quest

3/4) 2nd quest (this one can vary depending on the outcome of the 1st quest; so 3rd quest)

5) 4th quest

6) Interlude

7) Act II quest

8) Finale

Actually, it could be Intro - 2 Act1 Quests - Interlude - 2 Act2 Quests - Finale

Seems more logical to me this way. On thing I like most is that the decisions you make during the campaign phase heavily impact the campaign and the quests that appear. It seems that you can go the corruption way or choose to resist that urge. This is really cool and gies you a reason to re-play that campaign.

I am also interested in the new map and where Nerekhall and Greyhaven are actually located. The last map was already known from the game Runebound. They might be pushing the lore of Terrinoth as well. (Makes sense with Runewars: the miniature game about to be released)

I'm not against free content at all (well, you need the SoN expansion to play it so it isnt completely free), but i'd be glad to pay another 5€/$, even 10 for it just to get more content periodically. I mean, it has been 2 entire months without any news for descent (Delve release was October 17th), but its always nice to have new content.

And yes, shorter Act II sucks, out of the.... 5-6 Descent campaigns i started only 1 got to the Act II and i would really want to use my monsters and items from that Act.

PS: Sorry for any mistakes, english is not my mother language

Yes, GREAT STUFF. Ecstatic with how these are being pursued and released by FFG.

Also with this news I just grabbed all the Lieutenants for SoN! Because, you know, I seem to need almost no excuse to throw money at this company!

And to that person or persons who said we would just end up owning it all in the end anyway?

To quote Megamind: "You were right! I was.. less right."

:(

It doesn't get any better than this!

I really like the idea of rewarding people who buy/own the expansion. Thanks FFG.

I have no issue paying a reasonable amount for the new content if it helps get more campaigns out, makes the campaigns better and gets them out sooner. Paying in that case is much better than a free smallish campaign every 6 months.

Looks like I'll be picking up SoN sooner than later lol

Fantastic!

I got the base game during the summer of 2016, and since then I have been experiencing the most expensive autumn in my whole life, lol.

I got completely hooked and have now bought all the boxed expansions plus some smaller additions.

My problem is that it wasn't until very recently that we actually started playing a campaign with my play group and I realized that it'll take us 200 years or so before we'll get any use for all the expansions considering the slow tempo we have, creating a small "uh oh, what have I done?"-feeling in my stomach. Seeing in front of me how the expansions would gather dust and never be played... *sniff* ;(

But, with new campaigns like these, I can very easily get value out of much bigger parts of my collection. I breathe a big sigh of relief!

Many many thumbs up, FFG!

Right there with you.. ;)

My Name is Ron and I'm a Descentaholic. I havent bought anything Descent related in 8 days.

Hi, my name is Jim, and I too am a Descentaholic. I haven't bought anything Descent related in 8 hours ..

Hi, my name is Chance, and I'm a descentaholic. I can proudly say that I haven't bought anything Descent related since "The Delve". Problem is, buying anything Descent would just double down on my collection!!!

I have been temporarily cured of my Descent spending addiction.. but that is because there hasn't been anything new to buy since The Delve and I own everything else.

Who knows how long until I relapse though :o

Just be thankful you don't play Imperial Assault, Mansions of Madness AND Descent!

Now that gets expensive keeping up :P
