All Rebel pilots from "Rogue One" (from Ultimate Visual Guide)

By Agrivar, in X-Wing

Wedge was in the movie, sorta, he was mentioned as they were departing a meeting I believe as Captain Achiles.

I think wedge and Biggs were fresh recruits in ANH. Biggs had time enough to go home and tell Luke about joining the rebellion on he same day that the Tantive IV was caught by ISD Devaststor, so he was definately not at Scarif.

Wedge was unaware of the size of the DS in ANH, but maybe he just wasn't paying attention if he was at Scarif. Who knows.

I'd rather Rogue Squadron be an HBOesk mini series than a movie.

Ok. The real question is when do we get a 'Top Gun'-esque X-Wing movie? Tell me that wouldn't be the greatest thing ever...

I really hope they finally get around to a Rogue Squadron style movie. The Pilots are one of the few things the Star Wars Movie/TV verse has never really focused on outside of 'Our main heroes are good at it'.

Indeed. I think that's what a lot of people were hoping Rogue One would be when they first heard the title.

Don't get me wrong; Rogue One was awesome, and the space battle was awesome too. But a fighter-squadron focused story would be cool too.

I think the reason that the film hit home so much is the "people who aren't magic space wizards can save the galaxy too" vibe. I get that they largely got turned into mincemeat, but that's the point; not that only jedi can do the impossible, more that only jedi can do the impossible repeatedly and survive.

There is a reason there's a pretty fair turnover of personnel in the Rogue Squadron novels.

At the same time, there are only so many "big battles" you can have them in that a film leads up to.

What I suspect I'd really like, post the end of Rebels (depending on how many series they want it to run for), is a Rogue Squadron-esque animated series. It'd be an opportunity to "fil in" some of the stuff from the civil war era between the end of ANH and ROTJ.

I'd rather Rogue Squadron be an HBOesk mini series than a movie.

Interestingly, a lot of the themes used in the modern "Battlestar Galactica" TV series would work for a TV series based in a Rebel carrier group. They fight against insurmountable odds, they are always on the run and lacking resources, and now that "Rogue One" has shown the existente of more (and less) militant Rebel factions, you can have some internal friction about when are you going to far in the fight against the Empire.

So much potential.

Well the Rogue Squadron books are set after the Battle of Endor, and that whole time period now has a huge gap in it to fill.

I could see an initiative to rebuild a Squadron or create an elite unit to pull.off **** like Death Star runs lol.

Unfortunately there's only one year of time for any real fighting between the rebels/new republicans and the dwindling empire, between Endor and Jakku. The other 29 years were appearantly filled with boringness until the FO started doing stuff.

That initial roll into an attack dive with the trumpet fanfare is still one of the greatest sequences in cinema history.

"I'm going to cut across the axis and try and draw their fire!"

I wonder if Wedge was left off the list because he is still flying with Pheonix Squadron (unlikely since I just realised Hobbie is on the list by his actual name). It's also odd to think of Green Squadron in XWings. Wonder how they felt switching back to the AWings for ROTJ.

Yesterday i read article thats states that aside from EP VII, IX , Han movie and Boba movie we will get al least 6 other Star Wars movies by 2025....so i guess its still a go.

In the "Danger Zone" montage was a scene from the battle of Endor where a Neb-B was exchanging fire at point blank range with a star destroyer. The one at the battle of Scarif took a pounding and broke in two. I guess you really have to know what you are doing with one of those.

We can safely assume Devastator being Vader's personal flagship at that time was little more then ordinary Star Destroyer ;)

Either that, or the gunnery crews had been 'motivated' .

Looking at this list makes me sad that we have so many great x-wing pilots, but yet the Imperial Tie Fighters have more unique pilots then the X-Wings in game.... if you ask me, i think FFG likes the Imperials better, thats why they keep getting more love then the Rebels

That would work if it was set from the Empire perspective as well, people from Black, Obsidian, Sabre, Avenger Squadron, etc.

Maverick - Carnor Jax

Charlie - Howlrunner

Iceman - Turr Phennir

Goose - "Deathfire"

Viper - Soontir Fel

Jester - Kir Kanos

Cougar - Lt. Lorrir

Wolfman - Tetran Cowal

Slider - "Dark Curse"

Merlin - Omega Leader

Sundown - "Backstabber"

Hollywood - Epsilon Ace

Stinger - "Backdraft"

Film starts off in Interceptors, then training would begin in the standard TIE (back to basics) then it would move on to the Phantom (two seats, makes sense).

Also, cameos would include:

All World's winners names on the "Top Gun" plague.

Sable Gryphon as "That guy that spills his coffee during an unauthorised light speed burn near a Star Destroyer control tower."

Paul Heaver addressing the class, mentioning that not only are you fighting for a place on the wall, but the best of the best will be given the honour of using the code name "Fel's Wrath".

Alex Devy and Frank Brooks in a hanger bay, designing a new ship, with the blue prints to the XG1 Star Wing on a board behind them and their only line is

"Its a good ship but we just can't get the balance right. . "

That scene would be after the "It's classified" briefing as the pilots walk to their ships.

Alright guys, what I'm seeing here is that we need to do a massive mail in campaign to disney to greenlight a series/movies of Rogue Squadron doing Rogue Squadron things. Bring Michael Stackpole in as one of the writers/producers.

And a Mon Mothma political/spy thriller!

House of Cards with Representative Binks as the main character!

We will get a SW movie a year until the sun burns cold or until Disney get sick of money.

Actually, I like the idea of a Top Gun style movie from the Imperials perspective that ends with the main characters defecting to the Rebel Alliance.
