Colonel Jendon

By Coldhands, in Star Wars: Armada

The way I see it is:

Jendon is perfect to pair with Vader (and will make Vader squadron to see table again), as he will allow to activate Vader+Jendon pair from anywhere (and use Vader attack twice),

given that Vader does have the highest antisquad damage possible (Vader - 3.25 avg, Bossk - 3 avg, Zertik = 2.8 avg, Maarek - 2.75 avg, Boba = 2.0 avg)

For my point of view ideal ace squad would be Jendon + Vader + Bossk + Boba: highest average damage + backup (Bossk), can be activated by Gozanti from anywhere.

Zertik Storm does the damage to Bossk, then it has that precious accuracy.

All true, however by itself he's not that good. Might be worth adding him as squad #5.

Escort, 5 hull with 5 brace, 15 points, not that bad.

Jedon looks like a good imperial response to Yavaris shenanigans. While Yavaris lets multiple ships shoot twice, Jendon lets a choice/pumped squadron make a second attack if it fired already that turn. It could be anything from Saber Squadron sniping again to Maarek Stele dealing auto-damage on whatever he's shooting at.

I'm liking two shuttles in a squadron ball for VSD/ISD activations remotely. I toy with flipping one of them to Jendon for these kinds of tricks. The tradeoff by downgrading is having a little more flexibility to respond to things like minefields and targeting beacons.

Regardless, Empire is going to need a few escorts to protect these really good squadrons. It's still only the TIE Advanced... Where's the TIE Avenger when you need it? Escort Shuttles? Bleh.

One thing the CC will bring is to eliminate that ''auto-include'' mention.

Maybe it's because I don't play tournement but I don't like that idea that you ''must'' have certain vessels or aces in your fleet composition. If I'm playing with the Rebs in the campaign, I'll be so happy to get rid of Major Rhymer ;)

It is highly enjoyable when this happens... in th home-brew campaign my friend and I have been running, there is a 1/8 chance of a unique officer or ace dying permanently if destroyed in the game (crit on a blue die). First match I got Soontir, Admiral Titus and Rhymer. Soontir: Dead. Titus: Dead. Rhymer: Wounded (out for next game). Only won the game as a 6-5, but well worth it!

Top dog for Imp is all up in the air. Maarek, Valen, Cinena are all insane in their own way. Rhymer and Mauler aren't going away. Jendon isn't top dog because he requires other people to combo with and doesn't have strategic.

If Jendon is 5-stars, Mauler is 100 stars. I love Relay, but also love Strategic. Both are really really great for the game.

Very interesting, different thing for different areas. In my local area nobody has used Mauler in ages and would give him at best one star. Like all the other three hull fighters they die the turn or at very best the second turn they are in combat, and so nobody takes any of them any more.

No, your area is just objectively wrong about mauler. Not a knock on your group, I'm sure you all know your stuff and whatnot. But thats a big collective whiff on Mithel.

I actually like Jendon with Saber Squadron more than other AA options. IG-88 could be added to take advantage of that relay ability too.

And how is it wrong when he never gets his points back let alone more? All of the three hull squadrons die so fast they can almost never kill anything at all.

Because he shouldnt have any issue getting fifteen points of value if the other side brought squadrons.

I gotta say, 1 TIE Adv. makes WORLDS of difference when Mithil is in play. I mean, the Soontir-Howler-Mithil combo is quite maddening to kill with a single Adv. on the table.

Except it is not squadrons that kill them, it is all the ships with two anti-squadron dice that kill them left and right. With very few exceptions (Transports) I can not remember the last time I saw someone put on the table a ship with only one anti-squadron die.

But then I dont play in a meta that neglects Glad-1's, Afmk2-b's, Interdictor Suppression refits, Vics, CR90's...
