TIE Defender speed + Corrupter

By Teloch, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

The subject pretty much sums up my question. Defenders can go speed 5, VSD title corrupter allows commanded bombers to go 1 extra speed. Could that bump TIE D's up to 6 and beyond the current range ruler?

Is there anything in the rules that says squadrons can not go beyond speed 5?

Typically the card says squads can't move beyond speed 5, so I think it is an implied rule. I'm not finding anything in the RRG after a quick look.

The trick is getting a range ruler that is speed 6, which doesn't exist and you can't use range 5+1 because not every "speed range" is the same length.

So I'm going to say no, because we don't have the tools to go speed 6.

True speed 1 is the longest, but I thought range 2 through 4 were the same length?

Just a thought anyway, it would have been fun to get some speed 6 bombers to annoy the hell out of the rebellion.

I don't have my ruler on me so I can't say. But still, need a speed 6 ruler which we don't have and you can't make one since it is not FFG released.

Well the rules do say if you cant get the template onto the table because of clutter you can just eyeball it :)

I demand Drasnighta answer in my favour for his word is law on these forums.

Eyeball range 6 which doesn't exist? How? That is assuming range 6 would be the same length of range 5.

And what if there is no clutter?

How do you explain this to your opponent when you move beyond range 5 to this range 6 length you have created?

Plus there is plenty of other card interactions that specify squads can't go beyond speed 5, like AFFM.

I think you all meant to say "distance" rather than "speed" or "range".

There is no rule or game component that suggests distance 6 exists, so I would say the title has no effect on TIE defenders.

Well distance 5 is the same as speed 5 for length purposes.

Yeah, I brought this up when they first spoiled the TIE D and the consensus is they'll either errata Corrupter or FAQ the rules to add something about how you can't go a speed for which you don't have a measurement tool or something like that. Which is clearly the case anyway.

You may demand it, but if you reference back to the previous topic on this very matter, you will see that I have already specified that you need to provide me with an official Distance 6 Range Ruler.

Or. Y'know. Bribe me. No-one's really tried that yet, so I don't even know if I'm corruptable that way, yet...

Chiraneau + Corruptor of course can still work with Tie Defenders and it can be bounced through Relay capable Lamda shuttles. :o

2 is shorter than the others, I guess to make up some of the extra room 1 takes?

The rebel card that increase fighter speed states you can increase a sqaudron soeed above 5

The rebel card that increase fighter speed states you can increase a sqaudron soeed above 5

It specifically says the opposite

So here's a fun question.

What if Corruptor activates a TIE Defender that starts within distance 1 of Ketsu Onyo (who is made heavy by Intel)?

1) Corruptor activates Defender and increases speed by 1, but can't due to max speed 5. Then Ketsu reduces speed to 3.

2) Corrupter activates Defender. Ketsu reduces speed by 2 to 3. Corrupter increases speed up to 4.

Player chooses to resolve in any order. They would be sensible to use 2nd option

I'd be tempted to ask:

Who is first player?

1st Player Resolves all of their effects first... Then Second Player resolves all of their effects.

So if the Imperial is Player 1.... 1 happens.

If the Imperial is Player 2... 2 happens.

That's what I was thinking, Dras. Glad to hear someone else say it.

3) shoto that bastard with your ant-squadron armament one time and another until you get the 22 points. Then go to wherever you want XD

... Well, you have to roll a combination of (Two Hit, Two Acc) and (One Acc, Three Hit). in order to drop her that way.

Not impossible, but not the most likely thing either... Since any die showing a Crit at any time means she lives.
