Armada Wave 5 vs X-Wing Wave 5

By Gadgetron, in Star Wars: Armada

If we count purely based on starfighter class, Armada already has 6 more options for squadrons than a game based solely on fighters (X-Wing) did at this stage in its life.

If we accept that wave 3 and 4 are actually one wave (because they are) then that number increases to 8.

I'm not trying to take sides on the issue of squadrons overwhelming a game based on capital ships, but I found this interesting.

I think you're comparing apples to oranges here. Armada has squadrons, where X-wing is individual fighters. On top of that, a single expansion pack of Armada squadrons contains several unique ship types, where an X-wing expansion contains a single ship. It's more accurate to compare X-wing waves to armada ship waves.

Compared wave to wave, following the current trend, Armada will have more fighter classes than X-Wing by wave 8 (or 7 because waves 3 and 4 were actually one wave) than X-Wing currently has while waiting for its wave 11....

I fail to see the value of this comparison. I apologize for how snarky that comes off but I'm honestly unsure as to the broader point this thread is trying to make.

What he's trying to say is that Christmas is ruined, and Armada is dead.

A game of Monopoly has almost as many trains in it as Ticket To Ride. I feel like I was misled when Parker Brothers/Hasbro billed it as a game about property trading. How is this about property trading when I'm virtually forced--FORCED--to take railroads to win??

And don't even get me started on how many times those railroads get ridden. A game of Ticket To Ride--you know, the game about trains --you cross a rail line once . How many turns do I have to hold the railroads in Monopoly in order to turn a profit? I have to do it over and over and over. Property trading, indeed! It's like I'm shoehorned into this playstyle where I have to have railroads to support my hotel empire if I want to have a chance at winning.

Here's hoping Wave 2 fixes the obvious issue of railroads taking over the game. If it ever gets here.

Armada is clearly the superior game I mean psssshh :P

In 1977, Star Wars and Smokey And The Bandit both released. Star Wars made more money, but Smokey had more moustaches. Both were about rebels vs the man, but only one had a Trans-Am. By 1983, the Smokey series still had more Trans-Ams, but Star Wars did now have a moustache.

That's literally as relevant a comparison as what you're trying to do here.

Seems to me that you have failed to account for both Biggs and Wolff Yularen's mustaches. Maybe try to get your facts straight, sir.

On a scale of 1-10, what is your favorite color of the alphabet?

Well, Art is Art, isn't it? Still, on the other hand, water is water. And east is east and west is west and if you take cranberries and stew them like applesauce they taste much more like prunes than rhubarb does.

Burt Reynolds' moustache counts as 10. Star Wars didn't get a true star 'stache until Lando charmed the pants off us, and everyone within 500 yards of his smile.

Listen, I think we can all agree that Burt Reynolds is unmatched when it comes to luxurious lochs of lip mane, but you're missing a bigger point; Sally Fields played Aunt May more times than Carrie Fisher.
